Other than the head this beer has a soft carbonation. Matly aroma with notes of figs and raisins. Malty flavors...dried fruits and sweetness with a semi dry finish. Hops provide a nice backbone. Medium bodied and silky. erway (1002), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 18, 2005 Pours lite amber with little head. Very sweet heavy munich notes that bring on a nuttiness. Med heavy body. No hops in the nose or on the tongue. Some serious breadiness and faint whiff of alcohol burn. A little too sweet but not as bad as some I’ve tried. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 9, 2005 Dark amber body and small beige head. Nose has a vegetal quality left over from the lager yeast I presume. Beyond that, Munich malts are prominent with some classic grape and bread crust qualities. Sweet and malty flavor with an element of brown sugar. The alcohol in this one warms the belly and fogs the mind. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 4, 2005 Thanks to Tchrome for hooking me up with this beer. I went and grabbed the bottle, cooled it for a half hour and grabbed it out of the fridge. Poured it into my glass and not once really did i look at the bottle. I poured it into my glass assuming this was going to be nothing more than another amber lager...what I find out is I’m drinking a doppelbock and it just took me by surprise. The pour is very non-carbonated...headless with no lacing to speak of. Clear deep amber color with an aroma of malt, brandy, and a citrusy apricot. The flavor is very malty, sweet and dry in the finish. Medium to full bodied mouthfeel, non carbonated but very sticky and almost cloying. A slight tinge of alcohol presence, but pretty much non-intrusive. Some nutty, raisiny and fruity orange and citrus peel elements going on here. Very interesting and unique flavor, but overall lackadaisical appearance. beerbuzzmontreal (2945), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 3, 2005 Plenty of tangerine-like citrus fruitiness with nutty, marzipan notes in the alluringly sweet and malty aroma with some alcohol apparent. Clear orange-copper with thin, off-white head that recedes to thin ring. Still-looking. Very sweet and simple at first although some minor herbal hop flavour and a strong citrus fruit flavour emerges as it warms. Medium-light body with decent carbonation. Bottle enjoyed with beerbuzzmontreal, lubiere, MartinT and Rastacouere. Thanks, TChrome! Rastacouere (5565), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 3, 2005 Clear orange comprising red and brown hints. Head is off-white, mostly lasting. Aroma is deep, malty, very fruity and somehow delicately farmy in its herbal and earthy suggestions. Diplomatic and gentle melon, peaches and several fruit notes yet not hiding its substance (8.5% after all). Mango and not quite ready greenish oranges accompany obvious leather tones. Very approachable at first, but developping into a surprisingly bold fruitiness and more alcohol at it reaches room temperature. Medium bodied, light-medium carbonation is appropriate. Excellent and charming doppelbock example with unique characteristics, but is it really better than 95% of the german examples? Further samplings shall tell hopefully.
