GAManiac (265), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 16, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark, dark translucent mahogany with a small, dense off-white head that hangs around for a little while before forming a ring and leaves slight traces of lacing. The smell is extremely sweet and dominated by roasted malts with chocolate and coffee. The taste is also very sweet with caramel malts again dominating with chocolate and coffee underpining. I can certainly say I would never have pegged this as a Baltic Porter if not for the label on the bottle. The mouthfeel is light for a Baltic Porter but about right for something like a doppelbock. The drinkability is extremely good and I could definitely down a couple of these. As a Baltic Porter, this is an average beer, but it’s a pretty darn good doppelbock style brew.
tjthresh (1275), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Aug 18, 2008 12 ounce bottle from BBB63. Pours a dark ruby brown with a tan head. Aromas of roasted and salted nuts, a bit of chocolate and roast. Very dry aroma. Tastes good. Nutty again. Walnut maybe? Chocolaty and roasted with a fairly bitter finish. Medium/light body with average carbonation and it lingers a bit. I’ve been wanting this one for a while. Thanks Mike. WeeHeavySD (1699), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Aug 17, 2008 12oz, bonus via trade with BBB63, this is Mike’s trade night and so I wanted another beer and this is what it is. Pours dark borwnish amber with a tan head. Nose is malty and dry. Taste is sweet and malty and all in all a decent baltic, not amazing but drinkable. Guerde (462), Welcome, Minnesota, USA Aug 16, 2008 (bottle) Pours dark ruby brown with an off-white head that leaves nice lacing in the snifter. Nice aroma of cherries, chocolate, honey, and toasted nuts. The flavor is nowhere near as good as the aroma would indicate, and it’s incredibly difficult to pinpoint exactly what’s there because the flavors are so brief. There’s a faint flavor of roasted malt, and a light honey sweetness. The mouthfeel is light to medium. kp (6200), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Aug 13, 2008 Date: 08/01/2008

xmarcnolanx (636), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA Aug 13, 2008 Aroma is caramel, dull hops, and a little bit of a bock and chocolate-sweet aroma.
Taste is sweet, alcoholic, chocolate, nuts, and astringent.
Has a full mouth, but still comes off as uninspired and sourish.
Not very good.
