I do like it, but wouldn't quite say that. It is tasty, just a bit sweeter than I'd prefer. I'd call it a good after dinner (desert) beer, similar to Trois Pistoles for example, but not quite as strong. Found it for $10/6-pack. Be careful -- a very high alch. content. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 30, 2004 This was almost as good as Capital Maibock. The aroma, appearance, and the taste were all similar, but this was just a bit maltier in taste. Really good, but the Maibock may be a bit better. Nexxus (261), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 19, 2004 A beautiful crystal clear amber with a medium off white head. Floral aroma with honey, toasted bread, citrus, and pepper. Medium slightly creamy body with lively carbonation. Sweet, surprisingly complex, malty flavor with lots of toffee, pear, pepper, ginger, red apple, and raisin with hints of grass and alcohol. Very good. NeonLX (258), Wisconsin, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 19, 2004 Out of the tap--pretty orange amber with a tan head that calms down slowly. Nice lacing. Huge initial maltiness. Very sweet. Alcohol taste is evident but not obtrusive. Creamy & smooth with lots of heft. After about 3/4 of the glass on an empty stomach, the buzz kicked in with a vengeance. Very nice overall. Syd (911), Waconia, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 17, 2004 Bottle pours a dark amber color with very little head and lace. The aroma is of malt and slightly sour. The flavor is malty, sweet, very restrained white grape and apple, and just very nice. The palate is big and thick. Overall, another fine Bock family effort from Capital. TheDean (785), MIlwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 7, 2004 Had this beer at the Brewery tour. Hum, maybe that's something Ratebeer.com could add - a rate the brewery tour section. Just a thought. Hopistotle420 (1178), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 31, 2004 Copper/orange amber. Turbid carbonation, sweet malty nose, peppery alcohol. Small off white cap. Sweet, chewy malts, pears, white pepper, estery, slightly cloying, slightly lacking in character. Nothing spectacular here, but a fun rendition of a Doppel.
