COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A couple years ago we stuffed some of our Imperial Doppelbock in an 18 year old Bourbon barrel for 10 months or so. Then we moved it into stainless kegs and kinda forgot about it. We believe it worked out well and that we should think about doing it as an official release one of these days.

On tap at the GTMW 2011. Dark mahogany with thin tan head. Aroma of bourbon, dark malt, light chocolate, toffee and booze. Taste is big, bold and effing sweet. Sugar, chocolate, dark malt, toffee, vanilla alcohol and bourbon make up the flavors. A burn on the finish but overall pretty solid.

GTMW 2011. Poured clear brown color with an average frothy brown head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy bourbon, roasted malt and wood aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth thick texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy bourbon and toasted malt flavor with a medium smooth sweet finish of moderate duration. Very good doppelbock.

On tap at GTMW. Poured dark, muddy brown with a few loose bubbles for head. The aroma picked up lots of sweet bourbon and vanilla over drawn caramel and lesser bready notes.. warm, sugary, and inviting. The flavor was sweet again, with bourbon really taking over.. tangy oak also accented.. sweet caramel beneath.. too bourbon-ny to be great, as it masked what I think was a solid underlying brew. Syrupy with low carbonation on the palate.. spicy and tangy.. OK transitions, feel, and flow.. maybe this soaked for too long in the barrels.

GTMW. Deep red-borderline brown. BOURBON and some malt. Flavor is an overwhelming bourbon flavor that pushes everything else out. Honestly could not finish.
