On tap at the brewery for Madison Craft Beer Week - Listed as BB Imperial Dark, I think this is a treatment of their Imperial Doppelbock from their Capital Square series. Whatever it is, it pours a deep cola color, still with no head at all. It’s hot as hell on the nose, with bourbon and malt intermingling with the heat. Not a lot of room for subtlety--just hot maltiness. Taste is about the same, with tons of sweet bourbon, oak, raisins, brown sugar, and molasses. There’s a bit of a sour taste that feels off. This sucker coats the class and is really thick, but it’s a bourbon bomb--just has a real heavy hand that doesn’t really allow for much else.
