COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This brown ale has a deep brown tone and an exceptionally creamy head which is derived from imported crystal malts. The crystal malts are also responsible for a rich, nutty flavor. Mild hop presence from imported Fuggles and Brewers Gold balance the unique malt combination

Fizzy off white head clear brown-red body. The aroma is lightly sweet and nutty. Fairly mild, as expected. The flavor is mild fuggles and lightly sweet nutty malt. Not overwhelmingly nutty or roasted orange rind like so many of these brown ales. Overal laccpetable though nothing special.

Bottle: Borwn hued with a reddish highlight, small but ever lasting head and very good lace. The aroma has hints of walnut and cashews, carmalized and pale malts, floral hops, and a touch of dried pear. The taste is a smooth balance of sweet malts and mild bitters, not that complex but never got boring either. Some fruity undertones noticed as well as the expected nutty finish. The feel is a bit chalky but refreshing enough for the style. A above average brown ale and that says a lot. Worth a try.

On tap at the brewery. A thin to moderate off white head and a very nice chesnut browm color. Little aroma, maybe a hint of nuts. Nutty from the start..pecans or cashews. Not a lot of complexity thereafter. Very dry for the style, but (like all their beers) very drinkable. This brewery’s only ale (other than the wheat) , could use a bit more umph on the flavor side.

Clean mild brown ale. Very nice with a sweet nutty flavor. On tap at the Captial brewery tap room. Very easy drinker. fullish bodied good for a brown ale.

This was the second of two beers I drank during the 2nd 2004 Presidential debate (Bush v. Kerry), after I had the Capital Maibock. I was disappointed with beer, both in absolute terms and as a brown ale. Middle of the road brown color and a small head in my glass, there was a clear hop note that lingered in the flavor, but the malts didn’t lend much richness of flavor, either on the caramel scale or the fruity scale. Indeed, there was a hollowness that matched some of the answers from President Bush (e.g. his response on the environment: "I guess you ’d say I’m a good steward of the land," which rivals Budweiser’s claim to be the "King of Beers".)

Light brown in color with white to cream colored small head. Tastes very much like a brown ale, nutty and not very much sour hops flavor at all. If you like brown ale, this is a good one for sharing with friends (and the price is right). Overall I like this beer, especially in winter.

Appearance: clear, light brown hue, with a short whitish head. Aroma: nutty as all get-out, but nothing else, and largely dry, after that. On the palate, unimpressive, little hops, decent malt, but nothing really good is going on here, it all just lays together and asks to be drunk, and quickly, that’s all. Some dry fruitiness shows later in the flavor. Texture is light, as is body, and overall this beer feels far too thin. I lost track, and didn’t know if I was having a beer, or some somnambulistic nightmare! Seems like they were trying to craft a Newcastle clone, and succeeeded spectacularly. Finish is too short, as is flavor. Sorry, Capital, better luck next time...

Deep brownish red with little head but nice sparkle. Mild nutty malt nose. Light sparkle in the mouth, with some sour notes and a nice refreshing nuttiness short finish with some lingering notes of hops and dried nuts. Nice and refreshing with carmel creeping in as it warms. Not a bad beer at all!
