3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 thedm (4116) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - OCT 2, 2003
This fine brew poured a medium sized head of fine to medium sized mostly lasting off-white colored bubbles that left behind a softly carbonated transparent, but hazy, light brown colored body and a fair lacing. The aroma was nice with a big "Brown" dark malt nose. The wonderfully smooth mouthfeel was tingly from start to finish with a nice "Brown" beer finish. The flavor was roasted malt with caramel and a good amout of that "Brown" beer taste to it. A very decent brew I would love to have some more of.

Well, the name on this beer is correct, this is a very brown ale. Nothing special...a little disapointing.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2003 Bottled. Hey, this is probably the best of the beers I've sampled from this brewery, which otherwise hews too closely to style. A nice malty smell greets me when I pop the bottle, then it pours a nice thick head over a dark brown body. I get a taste of roasted coffee, maybe even chicory atop a bed of caramel. A sharp hop sting gives it a little fruity note like… all I can come up with is blackberries. Carbonation enhances the delivery of flavor. This is close to being a nut brown ale.

Smells hoppy. Very smooth, easygoing brown ale. Crisp aftertaste, finishes clean.

Deep red with a bit of orange, thin off-white head. Smells of cola, milk chocolate, and a little bit of sour cherries. Very malty, rich, and sweet, lightly chocolate, maybe a bit of molasses and nut. Smooth, creamy, one of the better brown ales I've run into.

Red/brown color. Sweet nutty aroma. Tastes slightly of nuts, but more so of chocolate. A good solid beer.

Brownish, red color.Small head that faded very quickly.Sweet malt aroma with a faint hint of coffee and or chocolate, some hops as well as a very very mild hint of alcohol.Malty taste, sweet, well hopped mild nuttiness to it as in the description. The after taste is malt with a good hop bitterness that lasts for some time.It has a medium feel in the mouth and a pretty decent carbonation. This is a great brew from them and thanks to Wawood for getting me one.
