Golden-brown colour. Brown sugar and light hazelnut aroma. Sweetish character with the same brown sugar and nuts. Thin body. Quick, slightly metallic finish. Newcastleish.

Poured a medium, see through brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of nuts, caramel and light chocolate. Tastes of pretty much the same. Semi-sweet and tastes a little like maple syrup.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 CaptainCougar (6834) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - AUG 24, 2002
Not much head, but a deep copper color and a healthy amount of malt. Very smooth for a brown ale.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ughsmash (5824) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 10, 2007
Bottled. Poured a clear coppery orange with a creamy cap of beige head. Nose picked up woodsy and nutty notes with herbal hops and a hint of detergent. Flavor was fuller than the nose with sweet, dry chocolate, nutty notes, and a mild herbal bitterness... sweet, pleasant finish. Creamy enough across the middle of the palate but had an odd, dry feel at the edges.. nice session-type brew.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Cornfield (5277) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - JUN 20, 2005
UPDATED: JUN 30, 2006 Rich brown in body with a thin tan head, this ale is replete with chocolate and caramel in both aroma and taste. There’s nothing exciting here, unless you’re turned on by traces of maple, but this is a solid, enjoyable brown ale. It fades, somewhat, in the finish, but otherwise has the makings of a good session ale.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BBB63 (5023) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - DEC 17, 2004
Bottle: Borwn hued with a reddish highlight, small but ever lasting head and very good lace. The aroma has hints of walnut and cashews, carmalized and pale malts, floral hops, and a touch of dried pear. The taste is a smooth balance of sweet malts and mild bitters, not that complex but never got boring either. Some fruity undertones noticed as well as the expected nutty finish. The feel is a bit chalky but refreshing enough for the style. A above average brown ale and that says a lot. Worth a try.

Quite nondescript. English hops with a nutty/roasted flavor. A good starter ale.

Picked up bottle from Cellars LexLarp. Color is a clear beer bottle brown and bubbly white head sits atop, leaves lace. Aroma has a light sweet bread malt with some hazelnut. Taste is the same with more nut and light hoppy bitterness. Feel is medium bodied, moderate and smooth.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Dogbrick (4837) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 21, 2002
Along the same lines as Newcastle’s version. Dark brown with a thin off-white head. A little thin with hints of brown sugar and caramal in the flavor. Mild nutty aroma. Not the best Capital has to offer but it is definitely potable.
