12 oz. bottle. a very enjoyable brown. commercial description is dead on with a rich creamy head and a mild nut flavor. would make for a good session beer.

Pours a dark mahogany with a creamy medium sized head that dissipates quickly but never goes away completely. Aroma is nutty with lots of roasted malt and a lingering sweetness in the back. Flavor is lots of roasted malt, nuts and a bit of chocolate with a touch of spicy hops rounding it out. A long, smooth, roasted finish wraps it up nicely.

Clear copper aurburn with a small tan head. Faint aroma of dry grain and walnuts. Lightly toasted grain flavor with light sweet malt, medium hop bitterness and a touch of fruit tones. Nice medium body and smooth palate. A fine British ale from a brewer of primarily German lagers.

Granted I am a sucker for most nut browns and I have a bit of the cheese head in my blood but I honestly love this beer. It has just enough complexaty to bring you back but is easy going enough that you don’t need to study for hours. An every day beer.

Clear brown with caramel and nutty aroma. Tastes of nuts and roasted malts, more malty than hoppy. Decent for a brown ale.

Well balanced, but lacks character. Definitely worth a try.

Bottle. Yup, it’s a brown ale. Nutty, caramel, very smooth, good mouthfeel. Does not have the sour taste that I tasted in the other 2 Capital beers that I have had recently. Good slightly bitter finish. The nut flavor is definitely here!

Appearance: Pours a clear, dark amber body ringed by a thin circle of white bubbles.
Smell: Mild aroma nutty malts with some hints of wood.
Taste: Sweetish maltiness with tastes of nuts and toffee. Leafy hop character. Very mild, balancing hop bitterness. Drying finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A nice, light session brown that goes down super easy.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 shigadeyo (2399) - Harrison, Ohio, USA - APR 6, 2007
Date: 3/31/2007
Serving: 12 oz bottles shared by Jason. Thanks for bringing this with you and sharing...
Event: Rye Pale Ale (10 gallons) brew out.
Location: shigadeyo’s house.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Caramel and some fruits and light nut.
Appearance: Hazy chesnut brown color with a dense, creamy and rocky head that looks like whipped cream. It also leaves some lacing.
Flavor: Chocolate and caramel malt. Also has some creamy butterscotch/toffee flavors like an English beer.
Palate: Medium to medium-full body that’s smooth, creamy, and mellow.
Overall: A good English-style Brown Ale and another fine brew from one of my new favorite microbreweries.
