Probiere (992), Iowa, USA Dec 17, 2007 A pleasant beer. A generous mix of chocolate, malt flavors, and the nuttiness that many browns claim to have, but so few actually show. Clean finish and mild aftertaste mean it does not linger on the palate. Very considerate of it, being that I went on to have other beers that night.
Strykzone (1008), Wood River, Illinois, USA Sep 4, 2008 Gently poured into a fluted glass and had an even split between beer and foam. The beer is the color of watered down cola. Head is tan and tiered. Aroma shows off the Fuggles. Feel is very thin with gentle effervescence and the remaining foam provides some creaminess. Some roasted flavors with sugar and caramel. A bit of rye bread, as well. Nice hop presence. The beer definitely improved as it warmed. Just a smidge above average. CaryTheDude (261), Ripon, Wisconsin, USA Sep 2, 2008 Updated: Sep 12, 2008Well, it’s definitely a brown ale, just not a very interesting one. Safe, middle of the road, generic brown ale. Nothing offensive here, but nothing impressive either. IlanMan (571), Winona, Minnesota, USA Aug 20, 2008 Brown pour with an off white head. Aroma of malt and some sweetness. Flavor had a hint of nuts as well as a mellow malt character. Also slightly sweet. Not a bad brew. jaymobrown (1300), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 6, 2008 Medium tan color. A decent head to it. Smells of malts and brown sugar. Quite bubbly. A tanned leather taste with some sugars and a bit of hops. Lots of sweetness. A medium mouthfeel. tedovertu (125), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA Jun 8, 2008 Updated: Jul 4, 2008Bottle, Lightly sweet flavor with a frothy off white head that has decent lacing. Light amberish brown in color. Light sweet flavor with and average duration. Very water body with soft carbonation. This is very similar in texture and feel as new castle but not as good.
