Slightly yeasty, earthy aroma. Pours a clear dark brown. Ample, pale tan, airy head - dissipates quickly leaving a thin froth ring. Flavors take a moment to appear, but has a lingering roastiness, walnuts, a hint of pepper on the finish. Medium to light body, but satisfying and refreshing. A good session beer.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 starewich (118) - - OCT 24, 2012
Aggressively smoky malt and considerable tree-bark bitterness with a mismatched palate that’s watery and fizzy like diet soda. Alcohol comes through in the finish. Adjuncty sweetness builds up in the mouth throughout the drink and sticks around.

Pours a clear very dark brown with a one-finger head that leave no lacing. Dark, roasted malt predominates but accompanies some nutty and bready aromas as well with perhaps a touch of chocolate. Light herbal hops. Thin to medium body with fizzy carbonation. Medium finish of roasted malt and coffee with a little tobacco. This is pretty good.
