Without a doubt the finest dark beer brewed in the United States. Styled after a traditional Munchener-Dunkel, Dark is a rich, delicious beer combined with excellent drinkability - a rare combination.

With a slightly murky haze, Munich Dark presents a very vivid and rich burgundy brown color, and you would almost think it were deep black if you’re drinking in low light. With a slightly sweet roasted nut and bread nose, it presents scents also seen in marzen, weizenbock and Vienna styles. Moderately frothy texture, slightly sweet corn, hay and wheat flavors, with a subtle tinge of creamy, zesty yeast on the sides of the tongue. Balanced and subtly flavorful body, but it seems to fall apart in the finish, leaving the tongue slightly parched and begging for some sort of closure, instead there’s a slightly bland and stale flavor that tends to linger.

Clear reddish-brown pour with a thin layer of well-retained off-white head. Subtle, yet constant carbonation bubbles rising througout the drink. Very fine aroma of roasted chocolate malt, bread, and caramel. Flavor was of nicely roasted malts (chocolate and caramel... with a lesser coffee presence), light alcohol, and some floral hops. Very smooth across the palate (no chalkiness or other hang-ups often found in darks).. and exceptionally easy-drinking. This would make a great session brew.

Dark bronze color emphasizes the rich malt character hidden within. Very well balanced with subtle hop aroma. If I had an Oktoberfest celebration, I would have to include this beer.

Deep rustic red hue with a off-white head and some lace. Aroma hints of roasted malts, molasses, caramel, aromatic hops and fig. Minor sweetness on top of a creamy and soft mouthfeel. Undertone of bitterness and crisp finish. Enjoyable beer, not a world beater but nice overall.
