Clear dark red with a bit of dark brown swirled inside. The head is huge and just a little darker than white. Chewy caramel, a little raisin, wheat bread, whole grains and a little residual sweetness. Clean and refreshing body. This is so drinkable its scary--I had three before I even realized it. Nice malty body with a good roasted character and only a touch of sweetness. Just a touch of hops in the finish to keep things interesting. Another finely crafted beer from Capital.

A very good dunkel and with less danger of skunkiness than the imported stuff. Typically for the style, the focus here is on malt. Pleasantly sweet with a bit of chocolate, nuts, and burnt sugar. Rounded out with a bit of spicy hops. Has an interesting melt-in-your-mouth finish. Really one of the best examples of this style.

A very good dunkel, bound to please me as that is one of my favorite styles of lager. A deep, brownish amber, with piles of dense, immotile head. The aroma is roasty and creamy and sweet; very singularly malty as a good lager should be, and bereft of fruitiness, which makes it desirable for some food pairings. The flavor is just gorgeous: Werther's original, dark bread, maple syrup and coffee roast, all with very "meaty" undertones, which resonate across harmonics of malty etudes. The sweet finish is balanced by the cutting forthrightness of just the right modicum of CO2, and a generous helping of bittering hops, although very little in the way of flavoring or aroma hops. Overall very nice and HELL YES I will buy this one again.

Very smooth. Dark brown in color with a big tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, with some nut/chocolate undertones, enticing. Taste is smooth, nice roasted malts. Has none of the skunk smell or taste of the imports, this is far superior.

Again another solid beer from Capital brewery. Not much head but big coffee/chocolate with a hoppy underbite. Very nice, good gravity. A substantial beer thats flavor is very smooth and drinkable.

12 oz Bottle. Aroma of barley malt with some sweetness and spices. Brown body with tan head and red hue. Flavor has a medium sweet malt body. At first it was a barley grain malt then near the finish the body thickened. Good smooth med-full bodied brew.

12 ounce bottle into a pint glass, deep amber with a medium tan head. Aroma was of roast malt with hints of coffee and chocolate. The flavor was of roast malt and sweet with notes of dark chocolate and caramel. Reminds me of a dopplebock. Would male a very nice session beer.

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2004 Deep, ruby hued mohagany body with dusty brown head. Creamy & smooth, lots of malts in there. Good depth and character. Nuts, caramel, mmmmm... pretty decent hop presence as well. I think that this is one of my favorites from Capital. Nice finish too, hints of barley and something sweet. I'd drink this Dunkel most anytime. Re-rate FEB 2004. more chocolatey than I remember. creamy and very enjoyable, but I'll drop it's overall a bit.
