Bottle. Deep orange amber with a dense meringue for a head. Very sweet and malty aroma, raisins, stewed cherries, brown bread. Sticky, almost syrupy palate with thick malt flavours of breadcrusts, brown sugar, kirsch, sultanas, and peaches-in-syrup. Very nice actually, and no booziness.

Bottle shared by Tom. Pours amber with a thin off white head. Sweet malty aroma with lighter spices and some peachy fruity notes. The flavor is pretty well balanced, with light sweet fruity notes, a hint of spices, honey, and a touch of oxidation, but not in a bad way. Pretty good.

Via trade with rando7. The aroma is bread, caramel. The appearance is red/amber, slightly more red/amber than the Autumnal Fire from which this is made, and which I just consumed. The flavor is bread, caramel, sweet light fruit. Medium to medium/thick in body, slightly thicker than the Autumnal Fire. The finish is sweet, some pine, noble hops after a few seconds, but the hop bittering is subdued. Very good. I’m always glad to try the obscure styles like Eisbocks. While I enjoyed this beer more than the Autumnal Fire, it isn’t as strikingly different from it as I had expected.

Bottle thanks arkurzynski. Pours clear ruby amber with a tight soapy off white head. Aroma is fruity like mild candied strawberries and cherries with a malty caramel backing scent. Taste is bready and malty with raisins and cherries and some prunes. Palate is medium and slick with a slightly syrupy feel that finishes dry. Very nice!

Dark amber in color, clear with a thin head. Super rich thick malt flavor with a great alcohol flavor. Dried fruit flavors and dry this was a super tasty Eisbock.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2011 Rating 4200! Bottle [12oz] courtesy of Glouglouburp. Pours a cloudy, bubbly amber-copper with an average lasting frothy off-white head. Lovely fruity aroma along with caramel malt, candi sugar, a hint of alcohol and light vinous notes. Nice flavour of bready caramel malt, dark fruit, alcohol, some chocolate, toffee and a semi-lasting bitter finish. Alcohol’s there but not 9.8%. Medium+ bodied. A sipper for sure but a very solid beer, great stuff!

Bottle into a pint glass. The high abv wasn’t too obvious in the taste, which was nice. While I can see why some people enjoy this beer, Eisphyre was too sweet and fruity for me.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Guerde (991) - St. Paul, Minnesota, USA - NOV 2, 2011
(bottle) Pours a clear mahogany color with a thin yellow-tan head. Aroma is pretty subdued, but has plenty of prune, caramel, and musty lager yeast. There’s a fair amount of booze here also on the nose. Warming does the aroma well, with further scents of toasted biscuit and maraschino cherry appearing. Flavor is full of malty sweetness, with plenty of caramel, toasted malt, and slight cherry. The beer finishes quite crisply, with a bit of a mineral character spiking right before the finish. No alcohol is detected in the flavor initially, but the finish provides a slight warming effect. Some graham cracker in the far finish. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonation is low. Overall this is a solid Eisbock.
