Bottle. Poured a dark amber color with a nice white head. Aroma is primarily malty, smelling the slightest hint of hops in the finish. The malt smell is mostly caramel. Flavor is malts, spice, and caramel. Fairly decent beer, but I don’t think I like the style.

Obviously eisbocks may not be for me. First I’ve tried of this style. Sweet malt and sugar aroma and taste. Amber red color. Medium body. It grew on me as my tasting went on, but I’m not a big fan of sweet beer, and this is overly sweet for my tastes.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 brian60625 (249) - Illinois, USA - NOV 6, 2011
Bottle into a pint glass. The high abv wasn’t too obvious in the taste, which was nice. While I can see why some people enjoy this beer, Eisphyre was too sweet and fruity for me.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 acertain (249) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 5, 2006
Pours a medium-to-light brown with a thin head. I didn’t get much of an aroma off this; maybe it was too cold. What there was malty and sweet. Flavor was not surprising like the Autumnal Fire, though mellower and richer. Alcohol was not overpowering, but definitely present.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 dankman (242) - Somewhere in, Ohio, USA - MAR 17, 2008
UPDATED: JUN 3, 2008 Wow, this is a nice brew. I have to thank Brigadier for the honor of having it, I am very thankful for this one. Pours a dark copper color with a nice light tan head. The nose is pretty clean with a hint of my favorite (when not overdone) scent; carmel. Nice roasted malt with carmel and other sweet flavors like vanilla that hide the alcohol in this fine brew. Well done beer by Capital Brewery; it’s my first from them but definitely not my last.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 dutch23mp (222) - Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA - AUG 14, 2010
Pours with a robust creamy head which stays for and extended time. Lots of malts blended into this that really overexcites the hops, The taste of carmel comes though and is the main taste sensation. A bit different but a fine brew.
3.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 benfergy (152) - Valley City, North Dakota, USA - SEP 13, 2006
This beer has a very bold , amber appearance (almost red!) with no carbonation. The aroma is spice-like, rather sweet, and almost like an ale. The taste is quite rich and caramel-like, not as sweet as the aroma, though. The malt is very present. Quite smooth. This is a harder beer to describe myself, as I am not too used to eisbocks, but this is excellent! (Note: This beer is a limited release.)
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 zer0crew (119) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 12, 2010
Bottle. Pours a ruby copper with a tiny bit of head that quickly dissipates. The surface seemed to almost... gel-over? Maybe due to all the malt sugar in it? Aroma is strong with malty carmel sweetness. Flavor is very malty sweet and it is very well balanced with the high alcohol content. You can feel the alcohol burn and a little bit of hops on the finish. Excellent!
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jarlbartar (88) - Janesville, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 27, 2007
Pour yielded an amber body with a small off white head with no real retention. Nose was that of dark and rich caramel. Tasted of roasted caramel and dark fruits, very complex and pleasing on the palate.
