growler-DLD06-thanks to hezron for bringing this one tto the tasting. copper amber wth a small off-white head. sweet, grainy aroma with notes of cherries, port wine, and some spice. grainy flavors of plums, red grapes, and amber malt husks. alcohol is well hidden. bright, sweet palate with a lush mouthfeel. I guess im not good at this style, since I have not had many from this style of brew. For what it is, its pretty good, maybe just not my thing.

Big malts, lots of overripe fruit in the aroma. Peppery alcohol, sweet finish.

My Bottom Line:
This Eisbock’s chewy mouthfeel benefits from a lucrative caramel maltiness and an apple taffee fruitiness. Alcohol warns and warms up the sipper; this is one for your deepest couch.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam skirts the hazy amber-red.
-Discreet herbal hops don’t achieve balance, but I don’t believe that was their purpose anyway.
-Freshly-crushed grain is always a pleasure to perceive.
-The fruitiness is quite complex and seamlessly blends in with the malty sweetness.

Bottle; thx Jason!

Bottle from trade with hoppymeal. Good aroma, sweet. Yeasty cardboard, peanuts, cherries, wet leaves, hint of chocolate. Abv is big, Beautiful clean orangy red color, good head & lace. Tad harsh sweet flavor. I got an initial sweetness that quickly bittered. Vanilla extract, butter creme, bready, Abv has bite. Thick body, creamy mouthfeel, bittersweet finish. Tasty, brash brew. Good sipping beer.

12oz bottle thanks to kmweaver. Clear copper color, off-white head. Sharp maple and sweet cherry flavored tobacco in the nose, abundent roast orange scented hops and some pretty high alcohol wafting out of the glass. Sharp, sticky tobacco and alcohol and brandy flavor, sharp and intense, for sure, but the palate is quite mellow, tastes aged but not spoiled or oxidized.

in bottle. rich amber with a dark beige head. aroma of honey and molasses... with a touch of parmesan. sweet flavor, with a lagging hop bitterness that stops short of great. chewy, thick and delicious, but not too thick. lingering and bright.

Growler: Courtesy of Hezron at the Hampton Inn Tasting (Saturday). Lots of alcohol in the aroma. Based on aroma alone, I’m amazed this is only 10%. Hints of sweet caramel and some grassy hops behind all the alcohol in the nose. Pours a bright transparent orange with a minimal head. Sweet caramel, fruit, and a hint of toffee. Finishes with moderate alcohol flavor, but not getting a lot of warmth. Faint bitterness in the finish as well. Gets a tad sweeter the more I drink.

Very intruiging nose, with rich cinnamon, freshly boiled potato, lavender, vanilla. Very unique. A hint of sweet apples and pear. Flavor is chewy and malty, belgian candi sugar and the texture of pear. Very yummy, but I could only drink this on rare occasions.

Bottle (12oz). Shared with biegaman, my bottle. Poured clear copper with a smallish white head, lovely colour. Sweet roast malt aroma, yeast and wood resin, alcohol and very light floral hoppiness, even a hint of vanilla in the finish - elegant. Taste of sweet orange juice malt, alcohol, burning leaves, very mild floral/herbal hops, more alcohol (warmed my ears), very nice juicy/woody finish. Thick, sryupy body, astingent, alcoholic and bitter mouthfeel, only a medium linger, but very, VERY warming - excellent - wish I’d bought a few to age.
