Clear, dark red, small off-white head. Very light aroma, just gives off some toasted malt, caramel. Surprisingly bitter--a dry, uncomplicated bitterness that leaves an unpleasant thirst. There are still some of the melanoidy malt notes from Autumnal Fire in here, but I find that a much superior brew.

4/2/11. 12oz bottle courtesy emacgee! Hazy amber pour with a small ring of eggshell head. Hazy amber pour with a small ring of tan head. Sweet champagney aroma and a sweet caramel flavor that is a bit smokey and somewhat one dimensional. Eh.

Obviously eisbocks may not be for me. First I’ve tried of this style. Sweet malt and sugar aroma and taste. Amber red color. Medium body. It grew on me as my tasting went on, but I’m not a big fan of sweet beer, and this is overly sweet for my tastes.

12oz bottle, very sweet and boozy aroma, malty and alcoholic. Not horrible. Ahh, this burns going down. Uggghhh.

Pours clear orange with thin to no head, aroma has notes of some slight caramel, dark fruit, touch of earth and biscuit. Taste is notes of toast, some bread, caramel, some earthy spice, finishing slightly dry and sweet. Not much to it, the best part about it is how well it hides the alcohol. Taste is very lacking for an eisbock...

12-oz. bottle provided via trade with Monger. Pours sparkling amber with a small fizzy light brown head, somewhat diminishing, spare lacing. Aroma is average malt (grain, toasted, nutty), average hops (grass), average yeast (sweat) with notes of raisin, date and dust. Medium bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation and an astringent finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness, salty. This beer had some slight oxidation issues; the alcohol was well hidden and really only showed up in the texture.

Clear orange, amber colour with a small off white head. Malty, caramel and alcohol sweet aroma with notes of bread. Malty, dried fruity sweet flavor with a light alcohol note.

Bottle. Poured into a tulip glass a dark, clear copper red color with a 2 finger tight off white head. The aroma to me is rather subdued with slight notes of sweet fruits, slight vegetable like tomato, and grain. Medium mouthfeel. Hmmm, interesting, sweet fruit/vegetable flavor gives way to booze and a slight bitterness. I find myself not the biggest fan of this one not because it is boozy but because the flavors just aren’t really that appealing to me. The bitterness lingers on for a while. Tastes like boozy sweet tomato to me. Looks really nice though and leaves some lace.

Bottle shared by badbeer. Thanks. Poured a clear medium orange color. So so mixture of smells including the likes of cheap toffee, alcohol, plum, and raisin. Medium to full bodied and delicately sweet with mild bitterness and a warming alcohol effect. Boozy and fruity flavors with a grain steeping barley note. So so. Past it’s prime perhaps.

Crystal clear cranberry pour with a soapy head that vanishes. Tiny champagne bubbles cascade continually and without agitation as the beer warms. I can tell how dry this beer is going to be just from the aroma. Tart fruits, winey tanins and rubbing alcohol fill my nose - as well as a touch of earthy yeast. Medium bodied with a nice, creamy mouthfeel. The lushness soon lets way to more alcohol and tanins though, really drying this out. Lots of dried plums and cherries dominate the palate, with a soft backbone of caramel laden malts. Overall, this is just too winey and dry for my palate. Comes off one dimensional with lots of ethanol throughout, even tasting like watered down cough syrup at times. Not for me.
