2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 pkbites (509) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 27, 2010
This is over rated. Darker yellow pour is marred by the head that dies quickly. Sweet, corny aroma with metallic notes. Sweet, corny flavor with metallic notes. Goes down quick, cold, and smooth, but so does the average macro light beer. This is over rated. On tap at Jimmys Del Bar.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 ElGaucho (1862) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - JUL 27, 2003
Malty aroma, but somewhat off...like sweaty socks. Large, off-white head. Light amber body with dark tan head. Slow but substantial carbonation. Thin but very good lace. Malty falvor with some banana notes. Plain and average, but a good attempt. Note that this brew might be past its prime, as I purchased it in July and it is a Spring seasonal.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 esjaygee (2599) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 23, 2010
Amber with a thin white head. Aroma is nobly hopped with caramel, toasted malt and some German hops too. Caramel, toasted malt and a touch of hops – just not very flavorful. Easy drinking and thin, I’m a fan of most Capital beers, but this one misses the mark.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 hopdog (7043) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 15, 2006
12oz bottle. Poured a medium and slightly cloudy golden color with a huge (4 finger) sized white head. Aromas of yeast and bread. Tastes of bread and honey. I didn’t really get too much more out of this one.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Palidor19 (2386) - Brandon, Florida, USA - SEP 21, 2011
I’m not getting anything special. malts are rich enough, hops are too grassy for this style. not enough character.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 BeerAteHer (384) - St. Paul, Minnesota, USA - MAY 8, 2005
Dark gold to pale amber in color. Head is slight but extremely rich, leaving plenty OK off-white lacing. Typical malt-hop imbalance aroma, slightly acrid, not a good balance overall. Flavor is buttery (more precisely "like margarine", but American Midwesterners will refer to margarine as butter so I suppose I may as well). The imbalance continues but the hops seem to win out, allowing compromised elements of honey and corn flakes to show. This brewery puts out much better -- maybe I got a bad bottle, I’m going to try again from another source and update this rating if necessary.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 donrajin (233) - Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, USA - MAR 17, 2005
I was not impressed with this beer. I like all the other beers from capital, but this is by far my least favorite. I don’t know if the beer was old or I just don’t like this style of beer, but that is yet to be proven.
1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20 orville (160) - Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 21, 2006
I hate this brew along with many others made by this unfortunate brewery that hogs space at many local taverns in my area. Tastes decent at first, but man what horrible peppery aftertaste.
1.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20 jkane (21) - USA - MAY 19, 2005
Tastes just like all the other Capitol beers. No hop flavor, not hop bitterness, and no beer body! Sorry, I don’t care to drink this beer at all.
