COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Dark hued version of the style utilizing the addition of amber candi sugar to "Imperialize" the situation. Although honoring our Brewmaster’s wife Barbara, it’s cleverly derived acronym was deemed unacceptably unacceptable.

Caramel color with a small tan head. Sweet brown sugar nose. Flavors of burnt sugar, dark toast, brown sugar and some camp fire. It drinks a little thin but that may be the age of this bottle.

Rated on 7-27-2013. This bottled beer pours a very small tan head that was fully lasting, mostly opaque body, spotty amounts of lacing, no visible carbonation, and a brown hue. The Aroma is malt, dark fruits, alcohol, and very sweet. The Taste mimics the Aromas. The Palate is smooth and this is a medium bodied beer. Overall, this beer is quaffable, but I feel it needs more flavor.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized brown colored bubbles that were and left behind a no visible carbonation very hazy brown colored body and a fair lacing. The nice aroma was malty brown malt and sweet. The mouth feel was tingly at the start with a mediumly tingly finish with a lingering malty aftertaste. The odd tasting flavor contained notes of sweet and malt. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.

14 oz. pour, on tap at Capital Tap Haus in Madison Wisconsin. Consumed on 7-8-12. Excessively sweet, creamy, coffee, and caramel smell. Pours deep brown with a maroon hue and many small bubbles as well as a small amount of beige head. Flavor is quite sweet and features caramel, toffee, candied plum, and orange elements. Fruity, tangy taste. Coffee-bitter aftertaste. Medium body. Crisp, refreshing, and creamy in the palate. Served a little too cold.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle is dark brown with thin tan head, aroma brought big notes of dark fruits, caramel and toffee in there all very sweet, some slight bittering roasted malt and a touch of earthy notes as well. Taste is a nice mix of sweet caramel and toffees, roasted malt and some dark molasses, dark fruits in there, finish fairly sweet. Pretty nice.

Dark amber in color, clear with a thin head. Sweet aroma malt thick in flavor. Light hops linger. Tasty and super dry finish. Very good beer.

Pours a dark chocolatey brown. Thin white head. Aroma is very full of chocolate with a bit of nuttyness too. Taste reveals a bit more nut flavor as well. Not too shabby.

Bottle… Pours clear and very dark with crimson flashes and a small, creamy, off-white head. Decent retention. The nose is herbal and rooty, providing additional notes of dark fruits and very old port. Full-bodied and a touch oily with pillow-soft carbonation. The flavor is sweet and minerally with nice notes of rock candy and dates. Finishes lightly sweet.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Mug. Appearance: Dark, murky reddish-brown with very thin head. Aroma: Molasses, soy sauce and dark fruits. Very sweet and quite strong until I finished the glass. Taste: Loads of molasses, licorice and soy sauce. Some light roasted characteristics, cherry and plum. While sweet, it is not as sweet as the aroma. Some very light noble hops on the finish help to balance at the finish. Mouthfeel: Moderately low carbonation with a full body. Not quite as chewy or chalky as some other Doppelbocks of this strength (which is good), likely sure to the addition of sugar to lighten the body. Warming and fairly clean. Overall: Another strong Doppelbock from Capital, but not up to the level of Autumnal Fire, or Celebrator for that matter, which it seems to be a higher abv version of.
