Brewed using wheat grown on Wisconsin's own Washington Island, Kirby has created a refreshingly different ale for all to enjoy.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is a nice wheat malt with maybe some lemon. Flavor is again dry wheat malt with a decent little hop kick to it toward the end. This is not just another boring wheat ale.

Bottle. Light lemon and wheat malt aroma. Slightly hazy golden yellow with large head. Light sweet-sour lemon and wheat malt flavor. Very lightly bitter herbal finish. Okay but not much to it.

A - pours a golden blonde/straw with a tinge of urine. Very low white head. S - grainy nose. Very light but prominent cereal grains like a heavy coors light honey and floral notes linger. Simple and overly strong. M - light medium body with low carb. Sort of Thicker textured body with an unpleasant feel. Slippery. T - grains, grains, and grains. Like a dogfoody version of corona. Strong honey and honeysuckle notes. Some wheat. O - note the light summer island wheat I had hoped.

Can: Pours slightly hazy gold with a large, foamy head. Wheat, light honey scent. Taste is mild..sweet wheat malt. Plain, steady wheat ale..minimal spicing. A nice everyday wheat.

So, this is one of my all-time favorite beers. In 2006 when this debuted as a summer seasonal, I couldn’t get enough. Then in 2007, it started becoming part of regular production. There is a lot of wheat on the nose, but earthy wheat, most likely coming from the wheat from Washington Island which is where the wheat for this ale comes from. On the palate, there is a little sweetness, but balanced out by the earthiness of the wheat. Not a whole lot of hops present. A great easy drinking beer for a hot, humid summer day.

From a bottle poured in a shaker. Pours the most slightly cloudy pale. Aroma is fizzy flour. Flavor is sweet and pleasant and light grain. Refreshing but probably on the bland side. Very nice lawnmower beer but not much more than that. Solid for a filtered wheat.

Pours a cloudy yellow with little remaining head. No lacing after a while. Lemony aroma, but only slightly noticeable. Taste is a typical american wheat ale. An average brew, nothing special

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2014 Drank from the bottle. Lighter than expected. Nice wheat flavor and somewhat biscuity. Carbonation fits the bill well also. Easy to drink, very sessionable.

Bottle. From notes. Wheat and yeast with a good dose of lemon tart and sweetness. Good, but not great.
