COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed using wheat grown on Wisconsin's own Washington Island, Kirby has created a refreshingly different ale for all to enjoy.

Bottle from HyVee. Appearance is a clear golden color. Aroma of heavy grain and bread. Taste is also quite bready. Wheat tones finish it off. Was hoping for more fruit but I’ve got nothing.

Thick, malty aroma. The flavor is moderately hoppy, heavily malty, with a dash of wheat. A little thick for a "refreshing" beer, but this one holds its own.

hazy straw pour with a medium white head. aroma is wheat, banana esters, musty yeastiness. Flavour is nice lemony and banana, wheat and pilsner light maltiness.

FunkyBrewster (1382) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 9, 2010
12 oz bottle. Pours a fairly hazy glowing pale orange with a thick fluffy white head. Aroma is very wheaty, almost like bread, with a large citric zest to it lemon peel, some other grainiess and spices. Flavor starts sweet with a big wheat cereal character, picks up some sharp citric notes before finishing, a bit bland with a boring wheat note and a quick fade. Medium body and a sharp carbonation. Refreshing for the summer days but there are better wheats out there

UPDATED: AUG 18, 2010 This stuff is real smooth. I was impressed at the crisp flavor and nice boquet. One of the better wheat ales I have had to this point.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden straw with about a quarter inch of head that quickly settles to a thin film. Smell/tastes a bit metallic. The finish is a bit dry and watery. Not very wheaty at all. I remember it being much better on-tap at the Capital Brewery. May have to re-rate sometime.

Pours golden. Mild sweetness and wheat aroma. Low character wheat flavor, but smooth like a lager. Easy drinker if you don’t want to be blown away.

Island Wheat smells tangy and sweet. Notes of orange peel are abundantly present, finishing with a bitter citrus taste. Not a terrible beer, but not something that I would buy again.

kramer (3455) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 19, 2010
12 oz bottle. Pours a clear very bright pale gold body with a small fizzy white head that fell to a thin wispy film. Fairly light nose, very clean, with wheat, pale bready malt, and a light floral note. The flavor is very clean as well. Wheat, dry pale malt, light floral hops, no yeastiness, very crisp on the finish. Light bodied and airy with fizzy prickly carbonation. Not very exciting, but very well made.

Light yellow, pure puffy white foam. Aroma is metallic, spicy, estery, lemongrass. Taste is more grassy, spicy, boring.
