COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A unique beer, Kloster Weizen is a true Bavarian style Weizen beer. Intentionally cloudy (hefe weizen) in appearance, this beer has a "spicy" flavor and is very refreshing. It is popular to add a slice of lemon to a glass of this beer.

12oz, twist-off bottle, Yellow label. Medium haze, golden color. Smells like a big German Hefe. Wheat, ripe bananas, big nose. Flavor is sweet malted wheat, and a slight tartness. Hints of lemon. Light-Medium bodied. Very fun beer I thoroughly enjoyed.

Pours slightly cloudy and straw-colored with a thin white head. Aroma consists of yeast, banana, and spice. Up to this point, itís much like other hefeweizens. Itís in the taste where it is different. The palate is a bit heavier than most hefeweizens and slightly oily. Malty and sweet describes the flavor with touches of banana, honey, and spice. Finishes clean. A great beer that is unfortunately retired.

Appearance: Pours a lightly hazy, coppery body with a tiny white head. Smell: Mild aroma of wheat, yeast, maybe a touch of citrus. So light! Taste: Flavor of malted wheat with a slight tanginess. Mildly sweet hint of honey. Banana, lemon, and spice present, but itís all at rather muted levels. Finishes dry with some yeast lingering into the aftertaste. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Mild carbonation. Soft mouthfeel. Drinkability: I could use a bit more carbonation, but overall itís a pleasant hefe-lite weizen.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2007 According to the Capital website, this is a retired beer. I am bummed. this is one of the few American-made Hefeweizen that taste like the German equivilent. This beer has a very smooth flavor with banana, clove, and a special guest peach flavors. I wish I could get more of this.

In bottle during the morning of Dark Lord Day í07. A well done hefe, but nothing outstanding. I guess I just compare everything to Schneider, and none are quite that smooth and flavorful. But a well done beer by our friends up north.

Bottle from trade with shigadeyo. Pours a hazy amber hue with an large frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Good wheat and banana aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium well balanced spicy flavor with a good sweet finish of moderate duration. Good soft drinkable beer.

Brought back a bottle from Madison visit. Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small near white head. Aroma a bit sour wheat malt. Taste of wheat malt, bananas, and citrus. Dry spicy aftertaste. A more lively wheat beer.
