kimcgolf (822), Dacula, Georgia, USA Oct 4, 2009 Poured from the bottle to a light yellow with thin white head that dissipated quickly and left little lacing. Aroma was faint, but what was there was a muted malty fruit overtaken by mild skunk. Mouthfeel thin and non-desctript and the flavor was bland. This all led to a finish that was short and dry.
Not impressed with this one. iabeerguy (158), Iowa, USA Aug 22, 2009 Pours an amber color with a nice white head. Aroma of malts, hops and caramel. zootfinster (179), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 16, 2009 Pours a medium clear amber. Medium white head. Nice roasted maltiness. Good hops, malt balance. Medium carbonation. Very flavorful. drowland (1337), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 4, 2009 Sampled at a tour at the brewery... I didn’t take good notes beyond the numbers, unfortunately. Trev (849), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Jun 21, 2009 On tap @ Great Wolf Lodge (Wisconsin Dells)
Poured a copper colour with a tight small white head.
Aroma was malty sweet caramel, hint of alc and vanilla.
Flavour was a little boozy at first impression but the malt flavour came on as the brew warmed up. Pretty sweet, medium bodied. Toasted malt, some honey, light herbal hop bitterness.
awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA May 18, 2009 From a 12oz Bottle. Pours a transparent, golden yellow color with a healthy finger of pillowy white foam. Exceptionally clean, with a rich, borderline vanilla-scented pils malt aroma complimented by hints of raisin-laden munich characters. Minimal hop aroma. Notes of honey sweetness. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with a soft, malty texture. Clean and well attenuated, but still brings out a relatively rich malt character. Flavors of honey and vanilla with a hint of raisin. Showcases the malt exceptionally well while maintaining a relatively high level of drinkability. A mild herbal hop bitterness keeps this from getting overly sweet. A solid example of an under-represented style. nuplastikk (1157), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 18, 2009 12oz bottle. hazy brown-orange. Oily head. Smooth pungent bocky malt taste. Pretty true to style. Crisp and almost lactic at the same time, with a solid malt base. Very well balanced with good hop character as well. Not as much depth as some German examples, but still a good beer. Baumgartner (108), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Apr 30, 2009 Draft @ The Mouse trap on Kelly’s b-day. med / lite malt body with mild hops to balance. Yellow copper colored brew. Very well balanced.
