Gold with aroma of sweet malt. Full-bodied mouthfeel. Very easy to drink at Capital’s bierstube. Pretty decent bock.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DougShoemaker (3149) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 30, 2007
Found this rating in an old book from June/03!
Malty nose, light copper, a small cream coloured head. Flavour has fruited malt, almost sour tasting, trace of bitterness. Very full bodied, given that it’s 6.2%, quite a dry finish. Intriquing little example.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Driftwood6 (214) - USA - JUL 22, 2007
In bottle. Thought it was a little light in the body compared to the various German versions I’ve tried. A little drier (not as sweet) as well. A bit more of the "bock" body would help this beer.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 cbkschubert (2685) - Cochise Co., Arizona, USA - JUL 15, 2007
12 oz. bottle courtesy of Bockyhorsey - Pours a very slight hazy golden color with a one finger thick off white head. Lively carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma is caramel malt and light esters. Flavor is toasted malt and light esters. Has a slight bitter palate. Medium body. A decent Bock. Thanks Wendy and Bill.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 kyzr (1140) - Belgrade, Montana, USA - JUL 5, 2007
Amber in color with small white head. Caramel and fruity nose. Flavor is big and sweet up front with heavy hint of carmalied sugar. Just a touch of hop, and finish is clean.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 adrian910ss (2109) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 24, 2007
Pours a slightly hazy deep golden color with a small white head. Aroma of honey melon, candied malts, cotton candy, caramel and dry fruits. Taste of candied sugar, sweet malts, melon, honey, with a hoppy finish. Very nice summer brew.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 troyc (2014) - Oklahoma, USA - MAY 20, 2007
(Tap) Pours a light amber color with a foamy white head. Aroma is of dried fruits and sweet caramel. Taste is slightly hoppy, with some earthy notes as well. This is a pretty good beer. A little more body could really add to this beer through.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 frankenkitty (1953) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - MAY 17, 2007
There was a light haze to this beer’s coppery/amber body under a small yet compact off-white head. Malts in the aroma are pleasantly caramelized with a hint of flora and a finish of grasses. Palate provides a rather silky mouthfeel despite it being somewhat flat. Alcohol is a little forward in flavor. A malted sweetness lasts despite a grassy hop finish along with a peaty note that hints towards whisky.
