COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A bock beer with a beautiful, deep golden hue. Very smooth, this beer has great depth of character, and is an excellent beer to celebrate the end of winter and beginning of spring. Available February through April.

Big-bubbled orange-golden beer with a small, off-white head. Rather alcoholic nose, and a bit grassy. Alcohol-drenched pale malts. Actually, this is only marginally nicer than a malt liquor. Taste is better, however again, alcohol-characterized. Toasted & cookie malts, again a bit grassy. Some addition of corn? Warming up, I seem to get something as dry-spiced honey. Slick MF, alcohol warming, ethanol feel. Human sweat in the aftertaste. Leaves to be desired. This is as much a malt liquor than as a Bock. Someone from Weihenstephan ought to look into this one. Danke, DavidA.

The first whiff off the glass was almost MGD-like. Not a good sign. No head when poured into the glass, but a nice dark golden color. Taste was a little on the bitter side, and not at all malty enough for my taste.

Very nice beer!!! Killer body and flavor. found the sweet spot with this one. Which I had at Bodega Brew Pub downtown La Crosse from a bottle. Just enough dry - bitterness to balance the cloying sweeetness for the result of a very good beer.

Damn these Capital beers are just so damn drinkable. Is that a category? It should be. I know they all kind of taste the same but the quality really comes out and they just suit my palate, even though I prefer hoppy beers. Pours with a decent white head and if it sets awhile it almost looks like a brandy in my glass. Straw malt aroma. A sweet malt taste.A fairly dry finish with no alcohol detected. A fresh sample in the dead of winter with spring miles away and this tasted great.

Pours a clear orangey copper, with a half inch head that slowly settles to a thin cap, leaving behind a substantial amount of lace. Smell; biscuits and caramel malts are the main players here, but there’s also some grains and a bit of a floral presence. Taste; those biscuits and caramel malts are in the fore in the flavor, like it was in the nose. It’s a bit grainy and earthy, with some floral and fruity notes. There’s a bit of a spiciness in the finish that mixes well with a touch of some alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, and so very drinkable. The clerk that I bought this from said it tasted like NB Fat Tire. I have to disagree, I thought it was a lot better.

Thanks to hopdog for the trade. Pours a translucent golden amber with a large foamy off white head that left some lacing and although got small still sustained an average head. Aroma of sweet carmel malts, various fruits, some nuts, toastiness and a hint of honey. Flavors a mix of the same. A decent maibock...would have like a bit more grainy maltiness and maybe a little more body but still decent.

Pours a five finger cream head that fades to a thin layer leaving traces of lace. Mostly cloudy amber color - does not look like a maibock Light carbonation and medium bodied. Malty/hoppy nose. Starts sweet, brown sugar that is balanced with the hops, malty finish. $1.79 for a 12oz bottle from John’s Grocery Tigard, Or.

Dark yellow with a diminishing off-white head. Light malt aroma. Lightly sweet with no showing of the hops in the bitterness or flavor. A bit on the thin side. I’d like a bit more hops and a lot more malt to round this out. Possibly this needs to be tried agian closer to the seasonal release.
