Clear copper body. White head that turns into a lasting ring on top of beer. Husky malt with perfume hints. Extremely well balanced delicate perfumey hops with sweet fruit and white wine-like notes. Very enjoyable.

an amber color w/ a thin white head. smelled lightly of carmel malt and a flowery hop. The palate was average. The flavor was lightly fruity, a fair malt, and a weak hop finish. Overall a pretty decent beer.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 SpecialSauce (47) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 15, 2005
On tap at Brocache in Madison. This beer didn’t impress me as much as other Capital brews. Kind of in the middle, perhaps it has more to do with the style than the beer. Dark amber in appearance, small white head. Suprisingly hopp-y for a bock. It did have good acidity and a nice finish. I guess mainly the flavor didn’t do much for me.

MIld aroma and flavor. Malty and quite sweet. Hint of citrus and ends with a nice hop kick.

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2007 On tap at the Tree: Orange with a creamy white head, this has some sweet caramel scents with a dusting of floral hops. Malty yet crisp, this also has a slight fruitiness to it, followed by a crisp, snappy finish. Those Capital folk are good bockers.

On tap at the brewery. One of my favorites that I had that day. Glowing orange color with a creamy tan head. Smells as expected - caramel malts and right levels of carbonation. Sweet, clean, crisp and malty. Elements of grass, lemons and cedar. Damn good beer. Hands down the best maibock I’ve ever had.

Golden color with a slight amber shade. White head quickly disappears. Aroma of sweet malt. Flavor is more sweet malt with some fruit notes and a short, spritzy hop finish for a bit of balance. Very smooth and drinkable.
