COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Without a doubt the finest dark beer brewed in the United States. Styled after a traditional Munchener-Dunkel, Dark is a rich, delicious beer combined with excellent drinkability - a rare combination.

12 oz bottle. Sweet, malty aroma with a dark copper brown pour and lingering head. Sweet malt taste, with a touch of smoke and bitterness at the end to balance the maltiness up-front. Could definately have a few of these on this cold winter’s night!

Dark brown, cloudy, with a thin head. Roasted nuts and carmel aroma notes. Carmel, nut roast, and hop finish. Full bodied, with mild bitter end. A dunkel, but also reminded me of an English ESB.

12 oz botttle

It’s hard to believe I have had this so many times yet never rated it properly. Given that it is going to be tough to locate Capital outside of Wisconsin and Minnesota I picked up a single to remind me of home. After settling in I cracked it open on a cool fall evening. It was just as good as I remember; this is a nice standby beer for those lucky enough to be in the Madison/Milwaukee area.

Aroma / Appearance - Caramel, molasses and malt fill the air with a hint of coffee in the background. The overall impression reminds me of rye bread with raisins cooked into it. The reddish brown body let about half the light trickle through. Sitting on top was an off white short lived head.

Flavor / Palate - Rye bread, raisins and dark malts wash over the tongue on the first sip. Next comes day old coffee before a semidry finish. The mouthfeel is fluid and simple; nothing is hiding in the last sip that wasn’t there before. This is a nice easy going beer just as I would expect from Capital.

Brown color with a medium off-white head. Roasty aroma with some bready malt, light summer fruit, and honey sweetness in the nose. Flavor is a bit bready and sweet, with some light fruit taste but drops off really quickly. I guess I expect a higher quality taste all the way through, but this one came up a tad bit short. Still highly drinkable with a light meal.

Malty pilsner style aroma. Cola brown color with a foamy tan head. Roasted malt flavor with sweet dried fruit and burnt toast notes. Light acidic bite on the palate, well carbonated with a watery body. Well balanced and smooth overall with a lightly bitter finish. Easy to drink and non-filling.

12 oz bottle. Poured a clear brown-orange color. Head was off white and reduced slowly to a thin film. Aroma was of toffee and graham cracker. Very nutty flavor reminiscent of peanuts with some toasted bread and a hint of dried fruit. Decent beer which is flavorful and non-offensive.

(Bottle) Pours a dark brown color with a small amount of head. Slight aroma of roasted malts and toffee. Taste is of burnt caramel, mild coffee, hazelnut and light cocoa. The body isn’t too think, which increases drinkability (but not enjoyment). A good beer, but could have been better if it had a little more body to it.
