COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Without a doubt the finest dark beer brewed in the United States. Styled after a traditional Munchener-Dunkel, Dark is a rich, delicious beer combined with excellent drinkability - a rare combination.

Average. Nothing fancy. A little more flavor than a standard lager, but that’s about the best thing I can say about it. A little sweeter than I prefer for a dark beer. Nice head. Didn’t stick around too long, though. Not too heavy.

A good pizza beer. By itself, to one-dimensional for my taste. If you like Newcastle, and want to feel like you are branching out, try this.

Appearance: dark beer, a little lighter that others I have had, with very little head. Smell: caramel Taste: does not have a strong taste until the bitter aftertaste. This is not one of the better dark beers I have had. Mouthfeel: thin and unmemorable. Drinkability: Sure you could drink it, but you can also drink The Beast. This is not one of the better dark beers I've had, so I'm not going to resample this one.

Pours a light brown color with a off white head. Aroma is malty sweet and nutty. Flavor is malty, nutty, and slightly spicy.

Tasted at Jan. KC Beer Meisters meeting. Amber color. Malty nose, malty flavor, one dimensional beer. Nice mouthfeel. I guess it’s pretty much right on for a Dunkel.

On tap at the Capital Brewery tap room. pours darkish brown with a small white head. Nice nutty aroma and flavor. Very clean with little hops. Like most Capital beers, it is easy to drink but for a session beer, there are about 100 others I would rather quaff.

Bottle - Pours clear mahogany with next to no head. Sharp and bitter on the nose, with alcohol, a candi sugar smell, and light malt. Feels syrupy sweet and unbalanced. Taste is sweet malt, sugary, with bitter malt, a touch of caramel, and some light toasted notes. Watery and thin in the mouth with a lot of carbonation, this one was pretty unpleasant all around. Did I get a bad bottle?

Bottle: The aroma of this beer seemed really off to me. I really could not get over the grass and menthol aromas here. Some chocolate was noted as well. In the mouth, the chocolate flavors dominated, and were actually quite rich compared to what I’m used to. But I also noted saltiness and sourness that did not mach well with the chocolate flavors. Did note some coffee like bitterness in the finish as well. This was definitely an interesting beer, but good...?

Crushed with Jakebra. Ugh. Boring. Lotsa maltiness. Id take Lakefront Eastside Dark over this poop any day. Some dirt, some sweetness, some thinness and some non-awesomeness.
