2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
I did not think an IPA from Capital was worth getting excited about and it turns out I was right. This is a pretty nice orange color w/ a soapy head and lots of lace. Nose is mild hops, mostly pine and floral. Taste is really along those same lines. It is perhaps slightly sweet w/ a rather nondescript hoppiness that works as far as balance but really doesnít impress. It finishes w/ a touch of iced tea astringent character and some lingering sweetness. This seems to be a well-brewed beer w/ no real off flavors or anything like that but it doesnít have the vibrant hop character I look for in the style. I enjoy many of Capitalís beers but think I will be sticking w/ the lagers for the most part as far as ones that I will try more than once.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pour is a clear orange with a large white head. Aroma is an ok hop not striking but there. Flavor is more a caramel malt with a very minor hop in the backround. Finish is a heavy dose of malt. It had a minor hop presence so it was not awful but in the large world of IPAís you have to go all out and this did not.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 ounce bottle
A pickup over the Great Taste of the Midwest this was consumed as soon as possible to enjoy a solid Wisconsin IPA. Itís not the biggest or boldest example of the style. That said it was worth the $1.99. This falls easily into the "nice to have a six pack around" category.
Aroma / Appearance - A caramel bronze base sits in the glass lazily. Starchy white head is the color of bleached laundry. Earthy grass, warm hops, and a pleasant malt bill balance against each other. This is hoppy without being an IPA bomb and almost feels like more of an English style IPA.
Flavor / Palate - Tree bark, resin, and the bitterness of muddy hops slide gracefully over the tongue. The transition is like licking a basket of pine cones that have dried by a fireplace. Malt driven flavors sweep into a finish that reminds me of an English pale ale. For that reason it might keep better than some hop bombs but I still would not sit on it.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle - Pours clear amber with a big fluffy white head and beautiful lacing. Nose is clean dry malt, light peppery spicing, and a piney hop aroma. Taste is medium bready-sweet malt, more dry pepperiness, and a understated pine/grass hoppiness. Soft, clean body and well-carbonated. Now Iím no Capital fanboy--far from it--but Iím baffled at the low scores on this one so far. Itís soft up until the finish, well-balanced, and fairly clean and dry. Thereís nothing in-your-face about it, but honestly thatís probably my favorite thing about it. I went in with low expectations--especially after hating their new DIPA--and was pleasantly surprised.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at a friends tasting. From notes. Floral and pine with a huge citrus nose and taste. Probably one of the better capital beers Iíve had.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from 12oz bottle, pours a clear dark golden with a nice white head and lacing through the glass, looks nice, the aroma is pretty sweet with more biscuit and bread coming through than hops, the flavor has a light front end and a little kick of hops in the finish, the mouthfeel is pretty light and the finish is dry, just seemed pretty thin through out, glad to see Capital expanding their styles a little bit, but this one isnít going to be their big seller.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
[Bottle] Pours a lighter shade of amber. Little head. Prickly carbonation. Biscuity nose. Moderate levels of floral hops in the aroma and taste. Dry, grainy and somewhat astringent. Lighter body. Lingering black tea notes blend with hops in the finish. An easy drinker. Tasting notes from 2/2014.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle into Le Duvel (time stamp was unreadable - 70 IBUs) - nose is allergy season in a glass. Sip adds strong citrus notes, mostly grapefruit but way more astringent. Strong hop flavor but not much in the taste department. Noticeable malty backbone. Mutiny? more like moot-eeny.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
An average ipa at best. Very fruity and not too hoppy. Smells malty. Had this at my brother in laws house.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hazy copper pour small off white head good lacing. Sweet citrus and caramel aroma. Average palate. A crisp citrus with amid bitterness level that lingers a touch piney in the finish. Good not great lacks a bit of malt balance.
