2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 stephen (308) - California, USA - AUG 26, 2002
Pretty weak. Along the budmilloors lines - at least after a few darker beers. I need to retry this one after a 3 mile run and a workout. Not as good as the 1900 which has more character and flavor - be it corn. I like Capital but there beers are a little weak for me. They all taste too clean and stripped of flavor, character and body.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - AUG 19, 2002
Great golden color, big lasting head. Nose rather sharp right out of the bottle, softens a bit in a few minutes; hoppy, somewhat piney. Flavor, as austinpowers put it, very refreshing, if nothing really special. Reasonably hoppy, sweet and malty, but rather thin.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 austinpowers (2827) - New York, New York, USA - AUG 17, 2002
Not as much aroma as I’d have liked, but the flavor makes up for it. The hops are there, and the flavor is really quite refreshing. A well-crafted product from Capital. I hadn’t cared for their Wheat though and didn’t expect much from this, either.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Drew (2411) - Kent, Ohio, USA - JUL 23, 2002
average pils. a little deeper golden than most. This had a ’fuzzy’ malt thickness and an almost crisp finish. I swear I tasted cinnamon in there.(?)

Fairly typical pilsener - which I am not a big fan of - but still pretty drinkable.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Dogbrick (4837) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 18, 2002
I didn’t find this to be too bad at all, noticeably better than the 1900. Unfortunately even the best Pils will never score big with me because I am just not a fan of the particular style. Typical Pils color/aroma. Medium bitter finish that turned mildly sour. I couldn’t detect much malt at all. I am hoping for better from the rest of my Capital sampler.

It pured a light gold color. It formed a nice white head and left some nice lace. It had an aroma of hops and citrus. The flavor was also of hops and citrus. While this is an alright beer, there are much better pilsners out there.

Yech!!! This and my bad chinese food experience in Madison made for a bad night.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 TAR (2236) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - JUL 14, 2002
Special Pilsner? Well, the aroma doesn’t do a good job in convincing me. Featuring pepper, pale malt, and faint fruitiness. Watery palate. Slight Saaz snap is not nearly enough to fill my hop craving. Nah, not Special. A ballsless effort.

Not much to write about here. Drinkable beer, good if you like an easy to enjoy, non-bitter pilsener.
