arkurzynski (89), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA Sep 23, 2009 Updated: Sep 30, 2009Pours pale amber with haze. Minimal head that dissipates quickly. Biscuit/roasted malty aroma. Good roasted flavor with light hops to match. Good stuff. howie (549), DeForest, Wisconsin, USA Sep 1, 2009 Caramel malt sweetness with enough toastiness and bitterness to balance. Nothing wrong with it, but not worth buying again jcr (1136), Jasper, Indiana, USA Aug 11, 2009 Bottle. A straight-forward, simple beer (compared to "big" beers) that is just plain tasty. Hazy dark amber body with some orange highlights. White head, most diminishing. The aroma is sweet with caramel and toasted malt. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Tastes of caramel and toffee with just enough bitterness to reign the sweet malts in. Medium body, watery texture, adequate carbonation to keep it a smooth drinker. Nice. FlssmrBrewAlum (1053), Lisle, Illinois, USA Aug 8, 2009
12 oz bottle at Nick’s Restaurant (Madison, WI). Pours a slightly hazed full amber, a bit orange with with bright white decent head, bubbly, laces fairly well. Aromas are light citrus and floral hops with crisp caramel and toffe malts, lighter, but still decent. Initial is grapefruit fairly light, caramel and toffee, a bit flowery, biscuity, with that stereotypical grapefruit/floral with caramel body. Finish is mellow sweetness, light bitterness drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 3, 2009 Had on tap in a pint glass. I’m not sure if it was a bad keg, bad lines, or just the beer, but this was nothing special. Holy diacetyl this tastes like butterscotch candy. nuplastikk (1159), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jul 14, 2009 12oz bottle. Medium-thick orange-brown color. Respectable head. Sweet, macro aroma. Some toasty amber malt notes, the sweetness is laced with minimal spicy hops. More or less sub-par stuff, it is still sessionable/drinkable. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jun 18, 2009 On tap at the brewery on 8/9/08: Pours a transparent dark copper with a well-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty grainy malts with a touch of noble hops. Body starts fairly full with good toasty caramel notes and some semi-sweet maltiness before a drier, smooth finish. A pretty decent amber ale. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA May 5, 2009 Bottle from thickfreakness. Thanks Charles! I think this one is going to suck. Pours orange to golden with short lived whitish head. Smell is tea and cheap, sweet bready malt and yeast. Taste is mild with some light fruitiness and thin caramel balanced by light hoppy bitterness. I need to water my basil plants. Thin body and soft carbonation. Eh, so so, at best.
