3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 1FastSTi (3000) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 4, 2008
Tap at Capital when buying GTMW tickets. The beer is coppery but I recall it was darker. An off-white head. The taste was weizen bockish with nutty caramels and grassy hops. I thought it was strange and in no-way a traditional American Amber. I was confused by this beer and somewhat disappointed.

Lighter than the Amber, and less bitterness to it. A bit watery, but good none the less. Light caramel and toast malts with some grass and floral hops. Balance is good, titling toward the malt.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Riley’s World of Wines in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a clear copper amber brew with a medium sized white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and some spotty lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, some roasted nuts, toffee, and some grassy hops. Taste is medium bodied, plenty of carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, light toffee, and a touch of vanilla. Finish is semi-dry with a light caramel malt and vanilla aftertaste. Nothing fancy, just a solid light amber ale.

12oz bottle. Poured a medium and clear amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of grains, musty, earthy, and toasted nuts. Tastes of caramel, lighter earthiness, and grains. Thinner body.

On tap. Big mistake. Underwhelming amber. I thought I was getting something a bit better. I was wrong.

Clear light amber with a quickly dissipating white head. Why Capital says “cloudy from the yeast” is beyond me. Aroma of earthy and grassy hops, dough, spice and sweet malt. Easy drinking, semi-thin and light tasting brew is not terribly flavorful. It’s on the malty side and finishes semi-dry with flavors of light fruit, apple, light sweet malts and very light hops. Subpar, for Capital.

Light copper color with a moderate off white head. A few lines of lace. Scents of lightly toasted malt and hints of DMS, mostly in the whirled pea scent. LIght caramel malt flavors. Mild floral hops. Just another amber that I can try and reminds me that I am not an fan.

I guess I don’t know what I expected but I was kinda disappointed anyway. What I got was a beer that, from a 12-oz. bottle, pours a clear (yes, clear)* light amber with a thin white head. A little lacing sticks around. Faint grainy aroma. Some vanilla and moderate nuttiness on the tongue, followed by a very subtle bitterness. Nothing nasty in the taste, but nothing exciting either. To me, this seemed like a watered-down Moose Drool. Sorry, it didn’t do much for me.
-------& said it would be hazy, but it was as clear as the proverbial bell.
