Commercial Description:
A classic Wisconsin Lager at it’s finest. Harking back to an era where Supper Clubs were In Vogue and Wisconsin had numerous regional breweries making their version of American Style Lagers. You know, back when these types of beers exhibited regional soul. And many of these beers were enjoyed during an evening spent at a local Supper Club, visiting with friends and family and having a good dinner. Supper Club is an eminently drinkable version of a true American Lager. Featuring a greater depth of refreshing malt character than the mass marketed versions of the style, Supper Club is clean yet satisfying.

On tap at the Great Lakes Brewfest 2009. Clear straw yellow with a medium white crown. Aroma of grassy hops, sweet pale malt and mild skunkiness. Taste of grassy hops, toasted grains, sweet malt, not my pint of ale… Finishes up mild astringent and crisp.

Draft at the OF. Filtered yellow-tan color. Minimal patchy head. Pale malt aroma. Relatively straightforward stuff. Creamy and smooth, with just a touch of balancing hops. Medium bodied, lots of yeast flavor. A good Lager all the way, though a touch buttery.

A lot of people seem to be down on this one, but not me. To me this was a very good, clean, crisp, well balanced lager. Good aroma, malty flavor, and decent mouthfeel. Refreshing for a hot day in the sun or with a good burger or other meal. The name fits well. Not my favorite capital brew (or even lager, for that matter), but highly enjoyable. Give it a chance while you still can!

On draught during Great Taste of Midwest 2009 in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a clear pale golden straw colored brew with plenty of carbonation and a thin white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma of crystal and grassy hops, a touch of golden grain malt, a hint of corn and some salt. Taste is light bodied, lots of carbonation with flavors of light multi-grain golden malts, grassy hops and a touch of salt. Finish is light, crisp, with a thin sharp bitterness that quickly disappears.

After a stop at the the brewery I was introduced to this beer. It tasted pretty good out of the tap so I figured I’d take a growler home and see what it’s all about. It poured a golden straw color with lots of carbonation but little to no head. The aroma was faint. I got a whiff of sweet grain and a touch of malt. The flavor was a tad muted. Crisp and clean but not much flavor other then a bit of malt a slight hop bite. This seems like afairly light offering from Capital. The carbonation was decent but it felt very thin in the mouth. Not a bad beer overall. Not a great beer though either. I could drink this but, would rather have many other beers from this brewer.

Sampled on draught at The Old Fashioned: Pours an illuminating bright golden colour with a fluffy white head. Instantaneous aromatic notes of malts, corn and yeast. Not gonna lie here- my least favorite style of beer probably but after a few sips i felt a little more connected to my Wisconsin heritage. Malts are hard to avoid. Ok to a point, but i found it a little unbalanced. Hops came across a little stale. I would love to revisit this again, but not anytime soon. Definately my least favorite Capital beer.

On tap at the Wisconsin Micro-Brewer’s Beer Fest. Poured bright golden with a well-retained cap of white head. The aroma picked up soft bready and caramel malts with dusty earth and floral accents. The flavor found toasted caramel and honey at the core with light earthy and piney bitterness around.. a tad scratchy and muddled. Medium-bodied with moderate (ideal) carbonation on the palate.. decent balance to it.. not bad, but not much to bring me back for another.
