Aroma of a lot of grain and grapefruit. Taste is not very bitter, a lot of grain throughout with some grapefruit at the end. Not the best APA out there, but not the worst either. arkurzynski (107), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 9, 2009 Pours nice golden/bronze. Aroma not overly hoppy, but above average. For my taste, not as bitter as I like in an APA, but again, decent. Like previous rater noted, background hint of toasted malt. thejoeshow (232), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 6, 2008 12 oz can. Pours a light golden yellow color. Not much different to some "mega-swills". Could be a little darker. There is also a nice white head that at first was big and bold but quickly fell down to a nice top coat that laces very well. Very nice nose on this beer. Not too overpowering but not understated. Hints of citrus come through in the forefront, with a bit of peach in the end maybe? Very smooth flavor. Very sessionable beer. Mostly fruity/citrusy flavor with small notes of pine in the background. Hop bitterness shows up more as the beer warms up. Just the right amount of bitterness. Finishes a little dry but nothing too bad. I would use the word "crisp" to describe this beer. Trev (897), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA

Fruity flavour, light biscuity malt undertones. Clean finish.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 13, 2007 Draft at the brewery. Poured a clear orange color. Head was white and two fingers high. Aroma was hop dominated; grassy, citrusy, and kind of sweaty. Tasted of biscuity malt with a touch of caramel. There were also some citrusy hops. Delicately sweet at then end with some lingering caramel. Brigadier (1263), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA

This was my last sample of the night before checking out some of the regular beers like Ale Asylum and Grumpy Troll. I missed out on the Hpplebock by one day and didn’t want to miss this. It is a bit outside what Capital normally does but not bad. It’s not going to shake things up but as far as pale ales go this gets the job done.
Aroma / Appearance - Cereal grain and simple hops were the basis of a light nose. As expected there is not much to it. The body is an ideal golden hue with strong transparency and weak carbonation.
Flavor / Palate - Clean wheat was first followed by lemonade and orange Gatorade. It fades fast without leaving much of a trace. Unlikeable some pale ales that do the minimum this one is actually worth revisiting. Hopefully it will see bottling as some point in the future. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA

Duration is bitter with a mellowing breadlike final finish.
