3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 doubelknv3 (883) - Illinois, USA - AUG 4, 2008
UPDATED: SEP 5, 2010 Pale golden with thin white head. Mild citrus, cascade nose, and mild caramel aroma notes. Citrus, mild earth and lite sweet malt balance. Smooth, but not a robust APA. Good for a small session.

Pours an attractive orangeish colour with a small thin white head. Nice lacing, decent amount of citrus character but weak on the hops and a little unbalanced. Nice ale from Capital, normally a big fan of their brew. But this one needs a little work.

12 oz bottle pours an almost clear orange with small white head but good lacing. Aroma is of piney and citrus hops with a good caramel malt backbone, but nothing overpowering. Flavor is malty without much of a finish. Light to medium body. A good APA but nothing I’ll remember.

Bottle . A clear pale golden color pour with a small white head that quickly fades, medium carbonation . Aroma is light floral hops and a hint of citrus . Flavor is much the same as the aroma , a little malt up front with a citrusy hop profile, lightly yeasty , well balanced for a APA but lite on the bittreness . Light body with a clean , but slightly oily mouthfeel . A slightly hoppy peppery finish . Quite sessionable and a pretty good try .

On tap at the brewery - Deep amber pour with a big white foamy head. Flowery and lightly tropical fruity hops on the nose, with light, caramel malt in the background. Tastes sweet and fruity, with light lemon and a bit of grassy hops on the finish. A bit flat, however. Medium-bodied and slick in the mouth. Smelled good, but nothing out of the ordinary.

12 oz can. Pours a hazy a hazy gold with with medium white head. Aromas of citrus and tea; flavor is the same. Not bad for the price.

Bottle. Pours light golden with a small white head. Aroma is sort of boring sweet caramel, biscuit and light piney hops. Flavor the same, lots of caramel, piney lightly bitter finish, bland, and generic pale ale. Medium body and a soft carbonation. Meh

Bottle from I remember not where. Pours amber/gold with a slight white head. Very light aroma of pale malt. A little floral hop. Medium body with average carbonation. Flavor is light caramel and something floral. Tasty little thing.

I dunno, this just didn’t click with me for some reason. Certainly not a bad beer but it’s not particularly memorable either, From a bottle, this pours a clear light golden with a small white head. Plenty of cascade hops aroma. First taste is all piney cascade hops, with little else in the followup. Somewhat bitter finish. Good hop prescense but nothing much backing it up. Honestly, Point’s Cascade Pale Ale is very similar and costs less to boot.

Thanks to terminus for picking this one up for me. Pours golden / copper with a large rocky off-white head. The aroma has lightly toasted smooth malt with spicy / piny hops. Medium crisp body with lots of sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with oxidization, dry caramel malt and spicy hops. The finish is about the same. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a fresh bottle and get in a rerate.
