2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 rubbishystuff (1198) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 14, 2012
At Cafe Selmarie. Malty and sweetness like a week version of a heller bock. Not bad. Serving: Bottle
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 kwoeltje (1748) - Manchester, Missouri, USA - DEC 29, 2011
(draught) amber wiht small white head. Malt aroma. Flavor is caramel malt, some grassy hops; maybe it was just because it was called "winter" but I’d’ve sworn there was some spice in there as well.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 bsp77 (724) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 10, 2011
Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Pint glass.
Appearance: Clear amber-gold with frothy off-white head.
Aroma: Biscuit, caramel, cherry and spicy & floral noble hops.
Taste: Great fruity malts (cherry and some other stuff) with layers of bread, toast and biscuit. Lightly spicy, floral and bitter on the finish.
Palate: Moderately high carbonation, medium body, nice dry and crisp finish.
Overall: Not exactly sure why this is a winter seasonal. But I am sure that this is an excellent Vienna-like lager - well balanced with tasty malts but a nice, dry hop kick. Capital knows how to make lagers with the best of them.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BVery (1954) - Burnsville, Minnesota, USA - NOV 21, 2011
Bottle. Semi-hazy golden/amber pour with a nice fluffy white head that fades to a ring. Aroma is caramel malt and earthiness. Medium palate, medium carbonation. Taste is hop forward, but not overly bitter, with earthy malts backing it up. Plays like an earthy version of an APA. Pretty solid brew.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 wlajwl (1452) - Iowa, USA - NOV 20, 2011
Bready malts with a hint of spice in the aroma. The flavor is much the same as the aroma. Decent lager, more similar to an American Oktoberfest than a Vienna, though.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ratman197 (5510) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - OCT 26, 2011
Bottle poured a clear amber with a small lingering ivory head. Aromas of carmel, bread and light earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of bread, carmel and light earthiness with a smooth lingering malty finish.
2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 DasBierChef (644) - Lucan, Minnesota, USA - AUG 17, 2011
This beer is really pretty decent, but still nothing much to it. I like some more complexity.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Rando7 (444) - Iowa, USA - APR 24, 2011
Bottle pours clear dark amber with brief white head and nice lacing. Aroma - not much there, a little caramel and slight hops. Taste really pretty pleasant with sweet malts, caramel and spices followed by a prolonged but mild hoppy finish. Palate thin without being watery, moderate carbonation. Alcohol not evident. Nice beer but don’t think I would seek it out. Not sure why they call this warming or a winter beer.
