well balanced amber...detected a bit more hop presence than malt, so thatís a plus in my book! clear golden with a thin head...no lacing

Great head on this one. Itís hard to be extremely distinctive as an amber, tho. Nicely balanced bitterness.

the pick of the litter from among the capital sample pack of eight. generally respectable beers, only a couple duds, nothing too daring or bold. tsk. well, they have twist-off caps, whataya expect? this one is tobacco leaf toasty amber, dutiful head doesnít bail after the first act. good balanced nose of floral hops and toffee, peach and toast. makes a big to-do upfront about how itís gonna be sweet, then hops bring on a mood swing that cajoles it back to bitter semi-dry. all that makes for an engaging drama on the tongue. like so many hollywood movies, i was very entertained, but i probably wonít remember it next week.

A nice richly malted beer. Good hops that are restrained but better than mild. Good texture too.

Decent, middle of the road stuff. Semi-sweet, light, malty flavor, balanced by a hint of hop bitterness. Nothing too interesting, but not bad.

Pale copper colored. Mild carbonation. Very clear. Good malt flavor - distinct. An easy drinking Vienna lager. This beer is extremely clean tasting just like the rest of Capitals offerings.

Very nice. Definitely along the Vienna lines of amber than either a hopped up west coast version or a unique eastern, balanced gem like Ithaca. Pretty similar to Lakefrontís Riverwest Stein, and has quality written all over it in its handling of the malts. Hops are there, but minimally. A bit thin and clear.

Compared to Snake River Lager or Elliot Ness, this really pales. It does have some íspicyí malt thatís helped along by the strong effervessence. A light hoppiness pokes itís head in to say íhi!í
Not bad, but I think maybe itís missing some íthicknessí?

Good malty flavor, a bit sweet and carbonated. A very smooth beer - but I agree...not as good as the Great Lakes version.

Good representation of a Vienna, although nowhere near as good as Elliot Ness. Nice sweet malty flavor and aftertaste. Fairly full-bodied for an Amber, I would try this one again.
