Draft on tap at Dotty Dumpling’s Dowry (Madison, WI). Pours a crisp amber hue, decent haze, some fiery sun within. A moderate frothy offwhite head sits atop, laces well, dies to a firm head, small but undaunting. Aromas are some crisp amber caramel malts, pale malts, touches of toast, brewers grains, and a light floral hopping. Served a bit too cold, as it warms some more aromatics, bread and toast. Initial is lighter bodied, some caramel, but largely bread, dough, touches of toast, with light florals and grass. A light bitterness, but grainy and pale malts, with a touch of toast and more substantial touch of toffee rue the day. Light bitter finish, lingering sweetness, a drinkable and easily quaffable Amber, session beer.. That just lacks some life in my book. A clean sessionable beer that lacks complexity and a little life, even for an Amber. Simple, no real spice. Amber.. Vienna.. Either way, it just lacks character.

On tap at Sheffield’s. Poured hazy chestnut. Smelled like sweet grasses, straw maybe. Little funk. Taste of straw again with a yeasty bread and a subtle hops bite. Not my favorite.

12 oz. can from Woodman’s Madison
Ar: Caramel malt is balanced by fresh grassy hops. Really nice. Simple but enticing.
Ap: 12 oz. can poured into a shaker. Pours clear amber with 3/4" manila head. Little head retention or lace.
T: Malt-centric but well balanced. Caramel-malt sweetness dominates the front, while the finish is clean, with grassy hops and hay.
P: Medium body with medium carbonation.
O: Great everyday session beer, and at $10.99 for 12 cans it’s a darn good deal. Gets a bonus point for price and sessionability.

Orange amber color, thin almost non existant head. Surprisingly strong malt aromas, I clearly wasnt expecting much out of this can. Fresh bread, light caramel, slightly yeasty. Smooth on the tongue with a slightly bitter finish.

Golden amber with a small fizzy head. Noble hop aroma with lightly toasted, somewhat grainy malt. Sweet flavor all around, similar to the aroma. Medium bodied with more than moderate carbonation. Drinkable, but nothing special.

Pours [big surprise] amber and clear. Medium body and mouthfeel with slight but noticeable sweet vanilla flavor. Clean finish. Very easy to drink but there’s enough there to keep you interested.

A very good lager beer with lots of taste. It is amazing to think that this is a cousin to other American style lagers as this one has some taste. Seems more malt orientated then normal. Great pour and shall have again.
