A solid, malt emphasized lager, the firey hued richness perfectly balanced by clean hop bittering.

Had on tap at the brass tap, served in a pint glass. Had an amazing amber hue that made my mouth water. Smell of some sweet malt and some caramel. Tated just like the smell, caramel at first then some bitterness and hops after. Solid brew, would have again.

12oz bottle from Steve’s Liquor and More in Madison, WI. Pours a crystal clear, slightly deeper golden colored body with a finger-width, frothy and fizzy, off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma is a bit grainy with a light caramel sweetness, some bread, and a touch of floral hops. Flavor is similar. A light caramel up front with some bready, grainy cereals. A light floral and grass balances nicely before this dries cleanly with a light bitterness and medium length aftertaste. Medium-light, smooth body and fairly crisp, moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty standard Vienna Lager. Not the most exciting, but well balanced and easy drinking. Enjoyable enough.

Pours a clear light amber with little fading head. Nose is mild malts, some caramel, and little herbal english hops and not complex. Taste is sweet caramel, some malts, no hop flavor to speak of. clean and evident lager profile. Medium body. not amazing but drinkable.

Somehow this got missed when catching up on old ratings. Rather nice amber lager. Never struck me as outstanding but still quite a solid brew. Serving: Tap and Bottle

Poured a red-gold with a light, fine-bubble head that faded to lace rather quickly. Aroma was sweet, fruity and malty. Taste was complex with malts predominating followed by an interesting hop finished which lingered nicely. Palate was pretty good. Overall, a nice complex Vienna from Capital.

Draft on tap at Dotty Dumpling’s Dowry (Madison, WI). Pours a crisp amber hue, decent haze, some fiery sun within. A moderate frothy offwhite head sits atop, laces well, dies to a firm head, small but undaunting. Aromas are some crisp amber caramel malts, pale malts, touches of toast, brewers grains, and a light floral hopping. Served a bit too cold, as it warms some more aromatics, bread and toast. Initial is lighter bodied, some caramel, but largely bread, dough, touches of toast, with light florals and grass. A light bitterness, but grainy and pale malts, with a touch of toast and more substantial touch of toffee rue the day. Light bitter finish, lingering sweetness, a drinkable and easily quaffable Amber, session beer.. That just lacks some life in my book. A clean sessionable beer that lacks complexity and a little life, even for an Amber. Simple, no real spice. Amber.. Vienna.. Either way, it just lacks character.

On tap at Sheffield’s. Poured hazy chestnut. Smelled like sweet grasses, straw maybe. Little funk. Taste of straw again with a yeasty bread and a subtle hops bite. Not my favorite.
