2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 nimbleprop (2993) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - AUG 13, 2008
Had this on tap at the Capitol City Midtown location. Served in a pint glass with a creamy, foamy slightly beige head. Body is hazy, amber with yellow hues. Fairly standard aroma, lemons and oranges with a bit of mass produced bread. Flavor was very bitter, obviously, with lemons and oranges, a little bread east and some light fruits. Finish is watery which was a bit of a turn off since there wasn’t much mouth puckering bitterness. Average, drinkable but unremarkable.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ben4321 (2979) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - MAR 7, 2009
Location: Draft Postal Building Location - From the sampler glass 3/7/09.
Aroma: Sweet, caramel, bread
Appearance: Hazy amber color
Flavor: Sweet and smooth
Palate: Medium body, nice balance, malty, decently long finish
Overall Impression:
This one was alright, not a standard ESB necessarily, but a nice drinkable beer, not totally distinguishing.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 whaleman (2178) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 26, 2005
Capitol Hill brewpub. Bright copper body with a sudsy white head. Mild, fruity malt aroma with some weak, earthy and spicy hops. Both toasted and tea-like malts in the flavor plus more hop character than in the aroma. Has a fruity, cooked apple quality that doesn’t exactly please me. Medium bitterness but the sweetness lasts, extending through the finish. Somewhat lackluster for an ESB.
