Draft at the Downtown location. I had no idea what I was getting into, and was pleasantly suprised when I got this beer. Redish-purple color, with a pink head. Aroma is sweet with a very berry aroma. Flavor is exactly what you’d expect, full of berry goodness. Slightly sour finish. While I did enjoy this, I would deffinately have to be in the mood for this one to have it again.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2007 Sampled on draught at the brewpub in Shirlington, VA. A very interesting and delicious beer, based on a Belgian strong, brewed with 600 lbs of blackberries, red raspberries, and cherries. I have always enjoyed a well done fruit beer, and Capitol City has a very unique and delcious one in Fruit Cake. This beer pours to a brilliant, ruby red color, with a thick, creamy, pink head, and a moderate carbonation. The nose on this beer is fantastic, with lots of fresh and tart aromas of berries, and cherry, paired with light, peppery alcohol. The palate is slick and slightly oily, with really delicious, sweet/sour flavors of berries, and cherry, and pale malt sweetness. This beer finishes with more excellent fruity, sweet and sour berries/cherry flavor, and ends with some light peppery alcohol to take the cloying edge off this beer. Really well done fruit beer. The fruit is the star in this beer, but it has enough malt backbone to stand up to the fruity aromas and flavors, and lets you know you are still drinking a beer. This beer is a natural as an aperitif, a beer to match with a cheese course, game dinners, and of course, fruity and chocolate deserts. Makes a wonderful beer to sip and savor after a big meal. I was really impressed with this one.

Not a big fan of fruit flavoured beers but this one is a pretty good...has a sweet cherry and raspberry taste almost sticky. it has a Garnet like colour,

(Shirlington) Pink head atop clear red-purple body. Aroma is moderately sweet, berry, cherry, fruit syrup, light alcohol. Taste is moderately sweet, raspberry, cherry. Light metallic in the finish. Creamy medium body with some stickiness. Alcohol is deceptive.
