WesKBob (161), Bethany, Oklahoma, USA May 1, 2008 It’s like a cold espresso shot, except with alcohol. Had on tap at union station. Pours an opaque black with a creamy light-brown head and good lacing. Very strong aroma of coffee with some toasted malt in there aws well, along with a faint earthy scent I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Beer is very full-bodied, with a smooth, almost oily consistency. Nice beer as a novelty, but wouldn’t make the list of my favorite imperial stouts.
kassner (182), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 16, 2008 On tap in DC. Serve din Goblet, Dark Amber, little to no head even at the Bar. Very Sweet, some hint of cherries, very sweet sour, with slight butter. A nice Imperial Stout with emphasis on balance LooseCannon (675), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Aug 12, 2008 On tap at the Downtown location. Pours pitch black in color with thin brown head. Aroma chocolate, roasted coffee and malty. Taste of dark chocolate, roasted coffee and malty with bitter finish. Kevster (195), Bradenton, Florida, USA Aug 11, 2008 On tap 4/6/08 @ the Capitol Hill location: Pours black with a frothy tan head that is mostly lasting and leaving nice lacing. Has a roasted coffee aroma and flavor with hints of dark chocolate. Finishes with a mild bitterness. Delicious! pnista (894), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Jul 22, 2008 On tap downtown. Darker brown, clearer with a thin dense tan ring head. Coffee stout nose, atypical. A bit of roast, but mostly old McDonalds coffee. Dry, some floral hops. Substantial with low but above average carbonation. Big coffee acidity. Not a ton of coffee depth. Dry. Older coffee. Roast. A little milky. Lingering bitter roast. JoeMcPhee (3807), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jun 14, 2008 Tap at the downtown location. Very dark black beer with no head at all. The aroma is loaded with rich earthy/fruity coffee aroma. Soft chewy roastiness on the aroma as well. There is a nice light perfumy herbal aroma on the back as well that lends a certain delicate character to the aroma. The flavour is pretty decent as well. Lots of herbal coffee over a slightly peppery (but not hot) base beer. Herbal and roasty without much of the usual cocoa at all. This is a very nice coffee stout.
