COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Designed to honor the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States, this pale colored ale beautifully balances a mild hoppiness with the sweetness of honey from the president-elect’s home state of Illinois. Hail to the Chief!

Draught at the Capitol Hill location. I know that they say they dry hopped this, but it really is a honey-blond ale, not an APA. Slightly hazy gold color with a small white head that leaves some sheet lace. Just a kiss of light, minty and floral hops. The floral part could be the honey though because I definitely also picked that aroma up. A decent aroma, though if they properly dry hopped this, I would think you would get a bit more hop aromatics. The flavor is mostly lightly sweet bready malt, light floral honey, some bright fruitiness and light citrus and mint hop flavor. The hops seem to give some flavor in the end, but it is hard to separate out from the honey. It’s made even harder to tell do to the fact that there is virtually no bitterness in this beer. Ok, maybe a touch more than a macro pale lager, but don’t expect this to taste anything like an APA. Light bodied with a good level of tight carbonation. At first i really thought this was somewhat interesting and a good session pint, but by the end I realized that there really wasn’t enough flavor in it to keep my attention over another round. In their defense though, if you are going to release a beer called inaugurale for the inauguration here in DC, toning it down for the millions (literally) isn’t really a bad idea.

A lightly hazed golden ale with a thin lacing white head. A pleasant peppery hops aroma and nice caramel malts. In mouth, light crisp malts, with good British hops, almost veering on Czech style. Fresh and tasty. On tap at Downtown location, Jan. 6 2009.

On tap at brewpub *Summary* - If this is a tribute to the new President I do not think it quite succeeds. Unless they were trying to make a beer you could drink all day on the Mall without getting drunk they wandered from their goal. I would pass on this unless you’d like to buy a $7.50 shaker and get something inside. *Aroma / Appearance* - Transparent and golden it has no lacing or head. It looks just like the kolsch but smells of wheat and grain. Not flawed in any way it is simply plain and mild. Had I known this was as weak as I found it I would have tried the dunkelweizen instead.
