COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English-style Oatmeal Stout has lactose added to the boil to give it extra body and a smooth finish, while the oatmeal also contributes to the body and silky mouthfeel. It has a full bodied flavor with enough hop presence to balance the flavor of the dark malts.

lovely rich little stout, a nice dark pour with black color an a little brown head. The flavor is smooth with a nice sweet malt flavor. I was seriously impressed with the beer from cap city

This beer is really a take of Cap City’s Blackout Stout which is their oatmeal stout. But what makes Oatmilk even more special, is that addition of lactose. The milk sugar gives this beer more sweetness, and even more creamy aromas and flavors. Oatmilk Stout pours to a beautiful, deep ebony color with a thick and creamy white head, and a moderate amount of carbonation. The nose on this beer is wonderful, with lots of dark chocolate and sweet malty aromas paired with mild touches of roast, and sweet cream. The palate is silky smooth and creamy from the use of oats, with lots of chocolate, dark malt, mild roasted coffee and sweet cream flavors, the just glide over the tongue. Oatmilk Stout finishes with more chocolate, light roast, and sweet creamy flavors that linger. This is such a delicious and enjoyable beer, just perfect to sip and relax with at the bar, or one to pair with a rich desert.

They claim it’s got a roasty aroma, and they’re telling the truth. The color is dark brown bordering on black with a beige head. The flavor is roasted coffee with cream. The palate is nice and smooth, but a little bit more carbonated than I would have expected. A good effort by Cap City.

Draft from Northern Virginia BrewFest. Pours a dark, moderately thick black with a dark off-white head. Aroma is toasted malts. Flavor is quite creamy, and relatively sweet. Surprisingly refreshing.

Draft Shirlington. Extremely smoky and charred chocolate malts in the nose, full of oak wood - dry and parched on the tongue. Very good stuff, it’s an intense experience, and it takes a lot for a stout to surprise me these days, but it was refreshing to try this beer. The best milk stout I’ve had, the lactic notes are light in the finish to begin with but as it reaches room temperature they become more pronounced, and mix really well with the concentrated smoke and charred grains in there as well. I want more.

Sampled during CBC 2013. Dark pour with a small khaki head. Ashy roasted malt aroma, char, deep coffee. Smooth flavor, rich milk chocolate, char, ash, roasted malts, coffee, a touch of cream and acidity. Tasty enough.

(Draught) Pours a thin, almond head and a opaque body. Nose of cocoa, whiskey and vanilla. Somewhat gritty and whiskey flavour. Little chocolate finish.

Tap at Downtown. Dark brown, almost black, brown fluffy head that fades quickly but what remains laces well. Nose is burnt malts, and milk chocolate. Mouth is chocolate, lactic, coffee, leaving a burnt and over-hopped ending that leaves an unpleasant bitterness. Good, bad ending.
