3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Thorpe429 (3823) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - APR 13, 2011
Reviewed from notes.
Pours a moderate golden color with a white head and some good lacing. Nice retention. Nose brings light fruits as well as pepper and spice. The taste isn’t quite as nice as the fruit doesn’t really come through over the yeast, which brings clove and some pepper as well as other spicing. Feel is nice with a good body and nice carbonation. Drinks quite well and was one of the more impressive things I had from them.

Tap @ Capitol Hill.
Hazy golden. Bright white head. Bready, yeasty, fruity aroma. Crisp malt nose. Sharp dough character. Big on ABV @ 8.5%. A bit of straw, and light fusel. Tastes light a unfiltered Duval. More of a Belgian Strong Ale. Very nice fruity yeast character in the finish. Well done!

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Elwood (1967) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - OCT 25, 2009
Serving: Draft.
Appearance: Gold color with a foamy, white head.
Aroma: Light nose with notes of grain, sweet malt, and alcohol.
Flavor: Follows the nose. Very grainy. Slight tart notes, some citrus. Lots of alcohol. Kind of a mess.
Palate: Medium-low carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and a medium-short finish.
Overall: This one comes up pretty short and could definitely use some refinement.
