COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An English style robust Porter with huge malt notes from Chocolate and Black malt matched with a huge use of Crystal malt to lend ruby hues to the corners of the glass. This dark brew is then highly hopped with imported Northdown and First Gold hops to lend a subtle earthiness in character.

Dark brown color with tanish head. Smoky aroma and very smooth malty, chocolate flavor. Delicious!

"Best one i had from here. Poured a nice dark brown smikey head. Aroma was sweet and smokey. Flavor was good malty not to sweet. Mouthfeel was just a tad on the thin side."

Capitol Hill brewpub. Dark, burgundy brown body with a creamy, light tan head. Aroma of semi-sweet chocolate with hints of tobacco and peaty whiskey. Light roasted coffee and cocoa bean flavor with decent dryness but a full flavor and palatable texture. Good porter.

Definately the best of the bunch during my particular visit to the brewpub near Union Station DC. However, still not very good, extremely thin and watery, I like to have a porter with a strong enough body to withstand at least 20 minutes of sipping. Seemed to break down before it hit my lips. Aroma was sickly sweet, but it didn’t translate through to the flavor, which was surprisngly good. Not my favorite porter, but if I were forced I would get this one again and stick to it all night.

Smooth for a porter, disappointing with lack of flavor. But it is a porter, so I suppose it does a stand-up job for its class.

Smoky chocolate and malt aromas on this dark brown brew, which leaves a significant amountof lacing in its wake. On tasting, the chocolate is overwhelmed by a hickory, coffee, hazelnut flavor that packs a bitter (but not unpleasant) punch. The palate is thinner than many porters I have had, but the finish is dry and roasty.

Dark mahogany brown with chestnut-red hues; cream colored, small-form head. More milky than the Irish Dry Stout they also had on tap, nutty, vanilla, macadamia, and a healthy dose of grape drink (purple kids’ drink like grape Kool-aid). Still, pretty dry. Definitely a lactic note in this. Substantially carbonated, moderately malty body. (on tap at Downtown D.C. location)

Had this in a sampler from Capitol City Downtown on September 5th, 2005. Opaque dark brown with a small fizzy tan head. Nose is roasty and laden with coffee. Some interesting burnt brownie notes as well. Taste is much the same but a bit thinner than I’d hoped. Roasty malts, coffee, some dark and milk chocolate notes. Not too bad. Body was too light, and surprisingly so. Finishes light and roasty with some lingering malt and choco sweetness. Not bad, but a bit of a let-down.

Draft. Crackly tan head. Peppy carbonation. Head mostly dissipates by end of pint. Deep dark brown hue. Nice bite - bitterness works well with coffee-like roasty mouthfeel. I had 7 of them, so I would say very enjoyable in multiples. Decent.
