COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An English style robust Porter with huge malt notes from Chocolate and Black malt matched with a huge use of Crystal malt to lend ruby hues to the corners of the glass. This dark brew is then highly hopped with imported Northdown and First Gold hops to lend a subtle earthiness in character.

A red-brown beer with a thin brown head - rather light in color for a Porter. The aroma is rather sweet with notes of roasted malt and seaweed. The flavor is sweet with a light roasted character, and a very smooth mouthfeel - it reminds me more of a Dry Irish Stout than a Porter. The body is thin.

From tap at the DC location. Pours pitch black with a small, lacing and tan head. Aroma is roasted dark malty, breadish and dry liqourice. Toasted malty and light caramelish. Smooth liqourice into the finish. Roasted malty, light bitter and vague sweetness.

dark ruby, good tan head, funky chocolate flavor, well balanced with an unusual hop for a porter, long bitter finish, overwhelming black patent bitterness, this prohibition porter should continue to be prohibited

dry chocolate aroma, still a lot of bitterness, not so much of the astringent malt bitterness anymore but still too much bitterness for a porter,

Sadly, this is one of Cap City’s better beers. Minimal aroma, and mild malty taste.

Murky brown porter with a thin lacing light moka head. A nutty chocolate aroma with light herbal notes. In mouth, a nice chocolate malt with light hopping and sustained coffee. Medium bodied. Tasted at Downtown location, April 14 2008.

CAPITOL HILL: Very dark ale with sparkling clear, ruby highlights. Medium-sized, creamy, khaki-colored head. Incredibly thick lacework which could only be removed from the glass with a putty-knife. Vanilla, coffee and chocolate in the nose. Same goes for the flavor, but with added notes of cinnamon. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Short, astringent, bitter finish.

Tasted more like a stout, smoky coffee and chocolate flavored, very full body, almost black in color, somewhat bitter finish. Fair.
