5/11/07: On Tap in DC.
Red raspberry body and candy like with a pure white head. Syrupy nose with a bit of hop. Flavor is fruity (raspberry) with a small hop and wheat presence.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours purple-red without a head. Intense aroma of sweet raspberries. Flavor is mildly tart and a bit on the sweet side. Unfortunately the raspberry flavor was harsh and seedy, not pleasant. Unfortunately this made the palate difficult to choke down. Leaves a raspy sensation on the tongue. Yuck.

Draft at the Downtown location. Just a bit of a haze to the bright ruby red colored body. Nose is candied sweet raspberry flavoring, giving me the big "uh oh" right up front, but it actually tastes fairly decent. A little too much like a soda pop, but there actually is a little bit of sourness and a faint hint of seediness in this raspberry beer. And the wheat? Not really anything. A simple beer - it doesn’t smell very good but the tastebuds liked the raspberry flavors. Body needs some work, too fizzy and soda-pop-ish, but there is some acidity present which is nice, and I’m glad other people noticed it as well.

(Downtown) Crystal clear ruby red body topped by white head. Aroma is medium sweet, raspberry. Taste is mild sweet, raspberry, light raspberry astringency. Light body, some acidic crispness.
