Cask conditioned handpump Whitelocks Leeds 25/07/12. A dark brown to ruby coloured beer with a tight white head. A dry and malty beer. A bit woody. Low on hops but true to style. Plainish but quaffable.

There was a clear caramel and hoppiness to this beer. It is a smooth bitter which turns more bitter as it stands, on pouring there is a rich creamy head which remains until finished. The roasted grains make for a pleasant ale, definitely for the dark beer lover. Itís a good session beer, not overly strong but full of flavour!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is a crystal clear, 4%, oak brown beer, with a caramel aroma and a smooth hoppy, bitter taste, becoming more bitter with a flavour of roasted grains. It is a pleasant ale, perfect for those who like a darker beer. On pouring there is only a very small cream head which fades quickly but continues to be lively on the tongue. A good take on an Irish Ale.

On cask at white swan, Stokesley. Pours red brown with white head, looks the part. Fairly uninteresting red ale, a slight hint of spice. Very average
