The Slipway was the first real ale to be brewed in The Captain Cook Microbrewery. With a fairly light appearance it has an initial sharp taste, followed by a hoppy aftertaste.

Cask, handpump at FFTMC, Oxford 17.04.11 Pours light amber with a white head. Some creamy vanilla is coming through, medium hoppiness, touch of sweetness, but the vanilla come back again to smooth things out and rather dominate. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Bottle. Golden with a medium foam. Aromas are floral honey with lemon. Herbal with caramel. Flavours are sweet grain, sugar and honey with fairly sharp citrus. Fruity with a dry finish. A bit "flabby". OK.

Cask (gravity dispense) at the Bricklayers Arms Yorkshire beer festival, February 2009. Amber with loose head. Decent appearance. Rather buttery aroma. Better flavour, in a fairly traditional bitter style - dry malt and earthy hops, with moderate bitterness. Overall, not great because of the aroma.

Cask at Bricklayers Arms Yorskhire Festival 09. Buttery/caramelly diacetyl on aroma. OK in mouth, decent hop on finish. Butter goes through it. Rest of beer is a decent bitter. Proper bitterness on finish. Get rid of the diacetyl and this would be pretty good.

A Mes rate: gravicask at the Bricklayers Arms.
Attractive clean mid gold with a thin white head and reasonable condition. Lovely fruity hop aroma and good pale malt to back it up. Sadly there’s a fair bit of diacetyl. The flavour is much better. Excellent malt, with a really good dusty bitterness in the finish. Fantastic length. Really good mouthfeel, loads of body. Without the diacetly in the aroma, this would be stunning.

Golden half pint with almost no head at local beer festival. Aroma is hoppy and bitter, taste is bitter and a bit harsh for my tastes. Not much else that I could find. I did not enjoy this much.
